Apologies if this is wildly inappropriate and I have done a search but can't find any other threads, so I hope I am not repeating an old subject. But I do just feel the need to say a word about Ken.

Ken had the barbers shop near the ironing place and the cycle shop just up from Goose Green.

My husband was in there today. It has been quite a while since Ken cut his hair so he asked the lady in the shop how Ken was - and, very sorrowfully, she told him that he had died.

This is a terribly sad because he was clearly not an old man and had, I believe, only recently retired.

We always took our little boy to Ken for his haircuts because he was so patient with him and somehow always managed to get him to sit still in the chair. And he did a lovely cut, even on a 4 year old! He always remembered our daughter, too, when it came to handing out the lollies.

As a family we are very sorry to hear of his passing and our sincere condolences go to his widow and family.

Are you referring to the Turkish gentleman who's shop was very close to Locale and next door to Rebecca's (Impress) Dry Cleaners?

If you are, apparently he had been suffering with cancer for some time now and had sold the business on because of this.

If so, he was an extremely nice person with whom I always had a laugh with each time I was in there.

This is very sad and my sympathies go to his family.

Not inappropriate at all Dorothy.

Thank you so much for letting us know, very sad indeed, Ken was a lovely man, very kind and friendly and a real gentleman.

He cut my husband and sons hair and always made us feel very welcome and loved the children.

We're very sorry to hear this, much love to his family.

    • Corbyn was unelectable - he got trashed by Boris who was a buffoon. It was a good job too because I would have hated to see Corbyn and his rag-tag bunch of far-left university politics backbenchers try to lead the country through Covid.  It is completely understandable why Starmer and the Labour Party want to purge Momentum from within their ranks and Cllr McAsh has fallen victim of that.

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
