IQ tends to be tested under exam conditions, involving no verbal communication but in life I believe we are judged by friends and peers on our communication skills and ability to talk around subjects and express our thoughts verbally.

Which is more valuable skill in life, strong analytical/logical skills, or verbal communication skills.

I would say that verbal skills are more important, for exactly the reasons PGC said.

Sadly enough, I think I'm fairly intelligent in an analytical sort of way, but I'm resorting to "what she said" on a forum. Oh dear, that proves my point.

And if anyone has any tips on how to persuade people, I'm listening...

If you were, eg, a rocket scientist and had to work out the best trajectory to the moon, you'd probably want more than Ted max or honaloochie like verbal skills to poetically and memorably say, 'right, i'd like this big pointy thing to go to the big round light in the sky'.

The worlds big, there's room for all sorts of intelligence, and if you believe the press then it would seem even Rooney Gazza was a genius apparently!!

I think he already had a comedic streak, MP.

Have you not heard his version of The Fog On The Tyne?

It's genuinely and intentionally funny to my ears.

Seems to a large number of them in Westminster anyways.

hmm intelligence imo is the ability to understand information and to then reinterpret it. Genius is the ability to rewrite it and the ability to commmunicate it is just well...good communication skills.

But seeing as we live in a world where having a big pair of bristols will earn you more having a first class maths degree then who really gives a f*ck.

Well, a first class physics degree won't necessarily make you a millionaire, even if you did invent the web.

But knowing some shit about shit, even if that means dropping out of university, can be pretty lucrative - just ask Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg.

    • As a cafe, yes. And they kept all the chandeliers they hadn't sold as an antique shop still hanging up. They had a real mouse problem, quite well covered up, however.
    • Ah yes, that's right. Didn't Chandelier sell a huge range of different kinds of tea?  That militaria shop was bonkers.
    • Spinach took over from Chandelier, which was then a cafe but had been an antique shop of the same name. Some shops up from Target Arms the militaria shop.
    • My friend and I once did a cocktail crawl down Lordship Lane.  I think we started at Black Cherry (now Franco Manca). It got off to a good start when I knocked mine over and had to buy another one. Liquorish was in there somewhere. The crawl ended with me carrying a chair and her a set of glasses, both bought from an antique shop at some point on the crawl, can't remember where and long gone. Was it where Spinach is now? Somewhere round there. The antique shop, not Spinach!
