Has anyone been recently since the new management?

We went in at beginning of the summer and service was really bad and had to send some bits of food back.

Looking for somewhere next Sunday and if it's improved it would be perfect for us but don't want to risk another bad experience

Very strange to hear this..my other half and I have been twice in the last month.

Once on a really hot and busy sunday,

and once yesterday.

Thought the new management had massively improved the place (hence return visit)

Food came swiftly and was perfectly hot and tasty.

I really would give it another try-I wouldn't trust the Facebook thread as a local friend told me some disgrunttled ex-staff members had got together and posted negative reviews.

I would say try it yourself first and then judge.

we had the misfortune to go there very recently and it was awful. food took nearly an hour to come and when it did there were only 2 out of 7 meals ordered, chased up the rest and were told they were busy and they would be coming. after about 20 mins a member of staff came out to ask what we were waiting for again and said 20 mins. 30 mins later we chased again and found our order was behind 8 others still!!! asked for the food to be done straight away as we had 3 young kids waiting and also for our money back and manager became very rude particularly his wife/partner and it was only with me raising my voice in the bar area that he agreed to a part refund and the food would be done. Food was overpriced and tasteless, poor service all round. Young inexperienced staff not being trained, heard that the chef had left the week before taking all the kitchen staff with him but from what I've now heard this service and attitude has been going on for last couple of months. A barmaid whom i think may have been the managers daughter told me they had only taken over recently. Wouldnt touch this place with a barge pole ever again.
Well, mixed experience for me, which ended well. Went a couple of weekends ago for lunch - staff were pleasant, food came in good time. However two of us had ordered fish and chip - which looked lovely - but smelt quite off when we broke through the batter. Waiter was very good, offered to take them back and change our order to something else. We then ordered chicken burgers which came very promptly and were very nice. Another waitress/or manageress then offered our money back for the fish and chips and was very helpful about the whole incident. Would go back for sure.

People need consistency in any restaurant. You may have a nice experiance and then decide to go back with friends

only to find a completely different experiance. This is not good.

You need reasurance that every visit will be memorable for all the right reasons..

Somewhere you can reccomend to others..

Sounds like The Wood House is not fulfilling this goal. Have not been there for a good few years.

Wasn't that good then.

It's not a restaurant. It's a pub that serves food. Big difference. I've been a few times recently and it was lovely. The more recent makeover is a vast improvement on the one before where the heart and soul of the pub was completely ripped out, unfortunately, a common theme with Youngs pub these days (see also The Clock House). Admittedly I didn't go for food. I tend to use pubs drinking in rather than go to eat in having said that the ales (with more choice these day than before)and service were extremely good. The garden has also been vastly improved.

WELCOME TO THE WOOD HOUSE

Located in leafy Dulwich, just next to Sydenham Woods, the Wood House now features a beautiful new conservatory-style extension with a stunning new restaurant space.

Its a pub with a dedicated restaurant area.. The last time I was there, you could not sit in the Restaurant area

unless you were eating..

So it operates as a Restaurant and has a separate Bar. Like the Lordship on Lordship Lane.

J L .. If I said The Sky was blue.. you would disagree. You cannot help yourself..

And WTF does cut and paste have to do with anything ? It's how they advertise themselves..

It's from them.. Not me..

And the other posters were talking about the restaurant section

End of.

Big lolz.

To be fair it's reheated food brought in from elsewhere...no chef required just the ability to dunk some chips in yhe fryer and use a microwave. The problem is by the time you get to that location you're invariably hungry. It could be a real destination. Good beer though.

I would never go back there , spoilt my 50th birthday, lighting didn't work, waitresses were young and inexperienced and menu was just the normal boring pub food, last time I went the menu was a bit more exciting that's why I chose it for my birthday. Wine was vinegary too. Not a good night.

There are other dance classes  (flowetic )that Fi and the lovely Lizzie runs  at Harris girls too . They also have an event next week which is a bit further- near Penge  which is a day of dance to include  just dance fit, dancehall, line dancing, garage fit and flowetic . Which is also available to book on that website  ( look at the events section) .
