Can you recommend any good DVDs for a toddler?

Hi there

I am reluctant to have my son (19 months) sit in front of the telly, but sometimes I just need twenty minutes to get some things done...

He loves plum-vision.co.uk, but if i need to be on the computer he can't be on at the same time, so can anyone suggest any entertaining or educational DVDs? If they are in Italian, even better, but that might be asking too much.

I love charlie and Lola - episodes are 11 minutes each (not that we've watched millions of them or anything...). The characters are lovely and lots of useful life lessons on the way without being preachy. Might be a little old for him at the mo but not for long.

My son is 22 months and loves The Jungle Book. He loves copying the animal noises. Not sure its the educational dvd you are after...but it definitely gives me some time to myself.

Have you tried Italian amazon or similar? I think lots of the BBC stuff, eg in the night garden, gets translated for sale abroad. I love peppa pig.

How about the Tumble Tots DVD's - action songs for little ones (and you) to learn and encourages them to move around rather than just sit watching. My eldest has been addicted for over a year (now 4) and the youngest (just turned 2) is really getting into them too.

Barney DVDs from Amazon. You'll get guaranteed peace. The Wiggles DVDs come a close second.

My two love the Very Hungry Caterpillar DVD, which has about 5 different Eric Carle stories on it. Very simple animation, lovely classical soundtrack. I got my copy really cheap in Sainsburys.

Otherwise, Peppa Pig is a firm favourite with my youngest, although tends to drive me a bit mad!

peppa pig keeps mummy sane in our house, though via you tube. Also noddy (though not the episodes with the goblins, bubs says 'bye bye noddy' as soon as they appear.
