Actually, I'm tea-total. Seriously though, I had a very good friend who died because of their 'drink problem' and the temptation of all the bars, off-licences, pubs, shops and supermarkets in East Dulwich, where alcohol could be so easily purchased, was like a magnet. This was a person who was a 'social drinker' and "did not have a problem".
Hmmm...I've seen it happen too. I went to AA a couple of times back in the 80s when I was having serious problems with my drinking (eight attacks of acute pancreatitus in six years due to my excesses) and they certainly helped me out and helped me to stay off the sauce for quite a while longer than I thought I'd be able to manage but I just couldn't get with the programme and the higher power thing, then again I have a friend recently out of rehab and it's helping him and another who's been off the sauce for 22 years and it's certainly helped him too.

Bloody hell it seems hard enough to me. I just can't switch my brain off. The only thing that does that is beer.

In fact I find most things boring until I've had a drink.

Seriously though if you have any suggestions on how to zone out while you run they would be most appreciated.

    • Please don't let this post put you off rehoming from a rescue. Yes Celia Hammond rehome kittens in pairs but there are plenty of single cats waiting for homes. People are not turned down only for living on a residential road or for working full time. Having volunteered at Celia Hammond for many years I've seen hundreds if not thousands of cats rehomed. I would imagine over 90% of those live on residential roads! The rehoming team work very hard to find the best cat for each home. If you want to rehome cat Celia Hammond Lewisham reception is open between 1pm and 5pm every Saturday & Sunday to drop in & meet for an initial chat.
