fish
Is East Dulwich in need of the A.A - not the motoring organisation but Alcoholic Anonymous? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1256-is-ed-in-need-of-the-aa/ Share on other sites

fish
Sorry, Alcoholics - not Alcoholic (no one in particular - no, I haven't slurred my words. Oh, the temptation that is Lordship Lane). Jah Lush
Are you being serious Fish? Do you drink like a fish, Fish? because I could probably put you in touch with a local AA meeting place if you feel you've hit rock bottom and need to address your problem. Otherwise see you down the pub and mine's a pint.:)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1256-is-ed-in-need-of-the-aa/#findComment-33652 Share on other sites
fish
Actually, I'm tea-total. Seriously though, I had a very good friend who died because of their 'drink problem' and the temptation of all the bars, off-licences, pubs, shops and supermarkets in East Dulwich, where alcohol could be so easily purchased, was like a magnet. This was a person who was a 'social drinker' and "did not have a problem". Jah Lush
Hmmm...I've seen it happen too. I went to AA a couple of times back in the 80s when I was having serious problems with my drinking (eight attacks of acute pancreatitus in six years due to my excesses) and they certainly helped me out and helped me to stay off the sauce for quite a while longer than I thought I'd be able to manage but I just couldn't get with the programme and the higher power thing, then again I have a friend recently out of rehab and it's helping him and another who's been off the sauce for 22 years and it's certainly helped him too. Keef
I contacted them some years back (can't believe I'm writing this), and found them far too pushy and a bit scary, so I went down the pub and cried in to my pint(s) instead. And I thought you were meant to enjoy your early 20's... Oh well, roll on 30 :)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1256-is-ed-in-need-of-the-aa/#findComment-33687 Share on other sites
MadWorld74
start running, I did and I drink ALOT less than I used to. You don't notice how unfit you are until you start to exert yourself beyong clicking a mouse and taping a keyboard. Keef
Iused to run daily when I was staying down in Surrey training for my job, but running on concrete and breathing in fumes just doesn't do it for me. Besides, I know exactly how unfit I am! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1256-is-ed-in-need-of-the-aa/#findComment-33699 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
I remember when the writer/piss artist Jeffrey Bernard was in hospital once with yet another drink related illness and when asked why he drank so much replied:- "To stop myself from jogging." Brendan
Bloody hell it seems hard enough to me. I just can't switch my brain off. The only thing that does that is beer. In fact I find most things boring until I've had a drink. Seriously though if you have any suggestions on how to zone out while you run they would be most appreciated.
