Keef
For some reason my old American DVD player just refused point blank to play disk 2 of series 2, so had to skip to disk 3. Thought it would be terrible to miss 2 episodes, but to be honest I don't think I missed a lot, as picked it straight back up. mockney piers
A great quote from Andre Royo (Bubbles)"I did Law & Order while on hiatus from [shooting], and I got a lot of love ? they loved The Wire. In one scene, the cops come to my house because someone is killed and I have the weapon there. While we were shooting, I saw an open hallway and I ran out. And the director yelled ?Cut? and said, ?We?re not as smart as The Wire. On our show, you put your hands up and get handcuffed.? As long as there?s a character I can find some meaning in, I?ll do it. But being on The Wire has made looking at other shows and other scripts a little bit more difficult." Keef
Half way through series 2 now. Think it took longer to get going, but it's hotting up nicely now. RosieH
Johnny used to work on the docks, union men on strike, he's down on his luck, it's tough. Sorry for the first few episodes of Season 2 I couldn't get the Bon Jovi song out of my head.Loved series 2 - more, by the end, than series one. I can't wait for March - weekend of the 15th, some friends and I are going to sit down with a lot of chicken, some beers and the new boxset (my plans to stretch it out week by week are out the window) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1290-the-wire/page/7/#findComment-79258 Share on other sites
barrymarshall
Does anyone find themselves copying what Wire characters do? For instance, I will now order "a shot and a beer" at the pub. SeanMacGabhann
"oh, indeeed"I know of at least one forumite who is wont to call people "good poh-lice"me, I have taken to receiving any bad news in a Stringer-like fashion -a deep inward sigh, some thought and then this-is-how-it's-gonna-beAnd I don't mean ironically - I ACTUALLY believe I'm being that measured As I've now broken my out-of-the-country-so-not-posting duck on a main thread can I also say I was HORRIFIED when I read Keef say he he couldn't watch the 2nd disc of series 2 - if I'm not mistaken that's the very disc where somebody very major does something bad to someone we care a lot about from series 1 - and he calls it like it ain't no thing!!!! I mean... sheeeee-it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1290-the-wire/page/7/#findComment-79281 Share on other sites

Keef
Finished series 2 last night, Sean I'll get 1 & 2 back to you, do you have 3 at the mo???What struck me is that after series 1 they didn't know for sure if they'd get a second series, so it could have ended there. However, they must have secured the backing for a third series before the end of 2, because it's just left a million things open.My fave characters are Omar, Bunk, and without a doubt, The Bowtie Man >:D<Mrs Keef likes Bubbles. Keef
I can't make my mind up on NcNulty. He's a bit of a git, but I do feel a bit sorry for him. He's good Pooolice though ;-)I know they're meant to be idiots, but I hate Herc & Carver. cEDric
Carver is one of my favourite characters mainly because, as Sean says, you see him grow and redeem himself after what happens at the end of Season 1.We watched the first episode of season 5 the other day. The quality was really poor though so we've decided to wait until July when it is shown on FX. Am going to struggle with the wait even more now I have had a tantalising taste of the new season. But I know it is for the best. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1290-the-wire/page/7/#findComment-81240 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
yeah I've been avoiding all season 5 spoilers and or torrent/downloads like the plague - hard as that is. It's partly the fact that once I see season 5 that's itBut I'm also waiting until end of season 5 to rewatch the lot - there is sooo much to pick up on with repeat viewingsAlso am I alone in fancying McNulty's ex-wife? Keef
So Sean, do you have series 3 at the mo?Good as it may be, I really don't think I could sit through the whole lot again. Maybe a few pivital episodes, but life is farr too short to watch the whole thing twice!
