Tea shop opened today! Looks beautiful, very comfy armchairs and some sweet and helpful young ladies working in there. A lot of the staff were proper French, so hopefully they'll be able to impart that 'je ne sais quoi' the owners seem to be striving for.

I had a lovely pot of some sort of posh earl grey tea all to my greedy self and am soon to be tucking into my tarte for dessert, which I took away.

Alas, I fear it is soon to be taken over by annoying ED mums, their oversized pushchairs and rowdy kids. Just as well as I am one of those annoying mums.... oooh la lah...

Cafe Nero always burn the coffee which makes for a disgusting drink. I will go in and try it on Saturday. Just think it will probably be full of us forumites but none of us will know who we are. Maybe we should have some secret signal. Like a phrase or a wink?....:))of course if you see a woman in there on saturday winking and talking babble it'll be me! carried off by the police! ha ha

wonder what time you were there davidm - we popped in briefly around 8am en route to another engagement but were very glad we did

The woman who served us was very good and very informative, talking about the soft opening mid-week and they are really keen for people to like the place. There is no "we are who we are take us or leave us" attitude at all

Nice food (snack menu) good drinks list and great selection of teas (and coffee!) -

It's not like a pub where you would feel comfotable just wandering on on your own but I can see myself going there quite a bit

Mark - I sooooo wish I was able to pop in for lunch today. But do report back

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
