A radio on in the background is OK, but a big screen (as are appearing in some curry houses and barbers) are naff. The lovely restaurant near to W Dulwich station was spoiled by its big screen. I asked for it to be turned off (there were a handful of other diners, all equally irritate if the encouraging looks I got means anything) and then never went back. You can tune out the wireless, more or less, but it is very hard to unwire your lizard brain so as it doesn't react to bright, moving things just above your eye level.

Truly remarkable how some people (no names mentioned) can turn any thread at all about some kind of class digging gentrification thing!! Really boring.

Anyway, welcome to you Evening Johnnies (I think this is what you should re-name yourself)......!!!

I'm not a fan of enormous TVs generally either but obviously great if going to watch sport or some other event. Maybe suss out the situation with customers to see whether they find it intrusive.

Good luck :-)

I'm sitting in Honour Oak Cafe. I can hear conversations, eggs frying, people laughing and much newspaper reading. I can just detect a little radio in the background & for me, it's just about spot on.

Television if you're on your own, I concede that whilst watching a documentary its a pleasure.

Good luck Johnnies!

Apart from your spelling of Honor Oak, that's the way it should be.

ok Johnnie's - maybe TV is ok for daytime but evenings need to turn it off and have music instead.

We love coming to eat at yours - usually Saturday's after swimming - and will definitely come in the evening to show our support.

Thank you for all your comments! We are listening to all of you.

As for menu I tried to upload a photo in other section (business and restaurant, in post JOHNNIES KITCHEN ON LL). Its really hard to see anything there, but i have to resize it to be able to add it...

Hope you all have a wonderful day, despite a gloomy weather outside

Johhnie,

Will you be doing a 5 items for ?5 in the evening like you do for your breakfasts ?? In regards to the tv issue the only time i can recall it, was hearing "Here comes the hot stepper, murderer" and i felt a twinge of guilt as i cut into my cumberland sausage !!

Have you thought about upgrading to a 4k tv with a sanos soundbar ??

Johnnie,

Have you changed your sausages,I popped in a couple of weeks ago for the 5 for ?5 and the sausage wasn't up to its usual standard, can you confirm if this was indeed a one off or if you have infact changed your sausage supplier, obviously this will impact on where I breakfast moving forwards.

Thanks

Why didn't you ask when you were there? Is it easier to ask on a public forum?

RE: Alan Medic

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I just came across this thread and thought i'd ask, obviously if i could like Cher in her seminal 1989 hit "Turn back time" I would of asked at the time, point noted.

Of course i did, the sausage along with bacon are in my eyes the most quintessential part of the traditional English breakfast, cold beans, over cooked eggs or no mushrooms i can live with but a poor quality sausage ruins the experience in my humble opinion.

Satellite, how do you feel about breakfasting moving backwards? Could this enhance your breakfasting experience? It's worth a try. In the words of Sir Arnold Bax, you should try everything once except Morris dancing and incest.

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
    • CPR Dave, attendance records are available on Southwark's website. Maggie Browning has attended 100% of meetings. Jon Hartley has attended 65%.
