Haven't seen that type, but I was bitten - while gardening - by another type of spider a couple of summers ago here in ED. The wound got so bad I had to go to hospital. They told me they were experiencing a massive upswing in casualties with bites.

The bite went from tiny punctures, to dark blister the size of ping pong ball with halo-pattern inflammation throughout lower leg, to deep hole in leg. It took about 8-10 weeks to clear up.

Interesting post hpsaucey - that looks remarkably like a distinctive looking black spider that's lurking in a corner upstairs, for want of a crevice maybe. Ooh err!!

There's another spider which has invaded our shores called the False Black Widow (I think) which has a noticeable bite. I got spider bites for the first time in the UK three years ago when I was clearing old wood etc from my then new back garden. You can see the puncture marks and the bite blisters and makes the whole limb itch.

I?ve got a bunch of these living out the back. Some attempted to move in through the window and colonise the bathroom but I got all up in their grill with me Raid.

There is also a population living in the brickwork on platform 1 at Denmark Hill Station.

They don?t bother me as much as the house spiders I?ve been getting in my new house that are as big as medium sized mice.

Damn foreigners, sneaking into our country illegally, breeding in uncontrollable numbers, infecting our population with displays of aggression and on some occasions ABH....biting today, knife crimes tomorrow I yell ya! And green fangs should just be damn well outlawed..... ;-)

Haha - I don't think it is my spider, it doesn't appear to have moved out of the corner at all and it's nowhere near a crevice. Luckily, I don't mind spiders at all - they do a good job keeping down less welcome visitors. I have one of those really delicate spindly ones living in my kitchen window.

Rest assured though, I am sensitive to the more delicate sensibilities of friends who call around, particularly if I know their phobic, and remove all traces of my housemates in advance ;-)

    • Which is exactly why Rayner had to go - don't be the sleaze attack dog and then not keep your own house in order - the really shocking fact is she didn't go the moment this came to light because she knew what advice, and the advice to seek proper tax expertise that was given to her in writing by the very people she was trying to throw under the bus - she clearly thought she might be able to spin her way out of it. When you look at the facts, the advice she was given and when and her behaviour in the last few days it has been scandalous and just shows the contempt for the public intelligence some politicians have. Interesting to see a very unscientific vox pop on BBC News last night but a lot of her own constituents seem to want rid of her as well and to be honest if you have to lose your cabinet role for this breach of the rules then you should probably lose your seat too. That is the hypocrisy here and why a lot of people don't like politicians because they're all the same.
    • Hi all, I’m after a stereo amp in working condition. Not necessarily anything fancy, as long as it works. Thanks
    • You are missing my point, there are a few here who are rabidly anti Labour.  And have lost sight of the many scandals associated with their party.  I've not made excuses for Rayner, rather I am inferring that it is hypocritical to go on about one of the major parties whilst ignoring your own dirty washing.   You are not making sense.  I expect half the country likes a drink and a sizeable number likes a vape.  What is your point?
    • If you read the article posted above, it is all very carefully worded. However I've found this: https://uknip.co.uk/news/uk/uk-news/peckham-rye-park-attack-man-seriously-injured-august-2025/
