I can confirm that the great Maceo Parker is indeed playing with him. A couple of friends of mine went to see him last week or the week before and he is playing in the round at the O2. Only trouble was that they were right at the lip of the stage and Prince is so small they only really got to see him from the waist up and the bouncers were a bit heavy handed about people dancing in the aisles which I find ridiculous. How can you not want to shake your butt at a Prince concert? Anyway, he blew the roof off the sucker. If you have a spare ticket...please please please.

+ves: great band, Maceo Parker was awesome, not too much talking and showing off, and I like the way Prince played guitar for most of the set (rhythm as well as lead, he was playing as part of the band, not on top of them). And apparently he plays a competely different set every night, so each time you get a unique experience. And he was obviously enjoying himself a hell of a lot!

-ves: pre-show video of various celebs proclaiming Prince's genius, poor arena acoustics, short(ish) set, the songs played with just him and his keyboard (would have rather heard them with the full band), too much muzak and perhaps not enough proper songs.

I saw a gig at the O2 a couple of months back, and was really really put off by the "crowd control". You're hearded in to the middle, and they leave a big gap either side of the standing crowd. I came back from the loo and was looking for Mrs Keef, only for this bloke to physically push me in to the crowd! I obviously turned round and told him to f**k off, which didn't seem to please him too much :X

As for Prince, I know a couple of people who have been in the last couple of weeks, and all have given rave reviews.

    • Am I right in thinking, after a little checking, that 'sim free phone' is now just the equivalent of 'unlocked', ie not locked to a specific network? Sue, if you do find a network that will let you keep a connection with them for nowt, or without any risk (in some cases) of having the number and even account balance withdrawn, do let me know. :)  It's happened to me twice -- once with a really nice number too.  I need to find a better deal for myself too.
