cherry tree montossori is an absolute terrible place to send a child. My daughter attended when she was just a year and the staff especially the manager who is money grabbing, she never records money and often makes excuses to not give reciepts. My daughter constantly had vomiting although she ia a very healthy child which i put down to not making up her feed correctly. I then every week was told not to bring her back for 3-4 days obviously i still had to pay the riduculous fees. My danghter never really learnt anything fantastic from them as they could not really tell me anything that she had already known. And they were always very dodgy if u turnt up a bit early and would quite often keep parents outside. My daughter came home in nappies two sizes smaller on more than one occasion although i provided nappies and they often lost her possesions. overall nursery from hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I am a bit baffled by the experiences of people from Cherry Tree, as our experience is an excellent one, we have a very active, lovely 15 month old who excitedly leaps to their arms every time she goes to nursery and also has learnt loads from it. Please refrain from being so dismissive, it is not very constructive. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but don't "feel sorry" for us, we are perfectly fine.

I agree - my son attends Cherry Tree and has blossomed there. He seems very happy, the staff are lovely and helpful and we have no complaints. As a teacher myself I'm been careful about choosing a nursery which has a nurturing educational environment which Cherry Tree does.
First steps montessori nursery on Upland road by Goodrich School is fantastic although as you say the waitlists are exceptionally long but go and have a look. Our 2.5 year old son has been there since September and thrived. And they have a great back garden with a huge enclosed trampoline. Can never get him to come home

Hi

I read a message that Blossom's is term time only :)) have been desperately looking for t-t only nurseries.. as I'm a teacher.. does anyone know any others - happy to look at quite a wide area (lewisham-croydon), as may be moving school/job post mat-leave..

@natnat may I ask how long ago this was? I am very curious as all I have had over the past 3 years is a good service. I am happy to still send my child here even after seeing your comment about it being 'the nursery from hell'. All of the staff are highly qualifed and the manager is lovely. She respects me, my husband and our daughter very well. Due to it being an 'openeddoor' policy I am able to go into the nursery and view how they are teaching my child and to see how happy my child is in the nursery. All of the workers are lovely and welcoming and all of the child seem very happy to be atending the nursery.
I am a parent at the nursery and the manager doesn't need to be there all the time because there are about 10 highly qualifed staff which are first aiders and are always floating around the building. I go to the nursery about 3 times per day to take my child, bring her lunch and to pick her up. Everytime I've been in the nursery the manager is ALWAYS there!
Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this but I was sure when I had looked previously at the accredited Montessori's in the area that Blossoms had come up but now it doesn't seem to say it is accredited with either the above site or MSA. Does anyone else remember it being accredited previously?

yes, and here is a list of the staff of the 'MEAB', most of whom have no background in Montessori, notably the names at the top on the list. How can an accreditation board be run by people that are not Montessori trained?

I have to disagree, I think Little Fingers Montessori is a fantastic nursery. It's one of the only nurseries around Dulwich that is actually Montessori and follows the Montessori method closely. A lot of my friends children have gone there and done exceptionally well. I have just registered my son in the new Little fingers nursery on Barry Road where staff seem very friendly and great with the children. I asked them about their complaints procedure as I panicked a little after reading the above, they were able to explain and also have a written policy on this. My advice is, don?t always listen to what other people say and check things out for yourself.

    • I've noticed the foxes are very frisky at the moment, it's mating season. Perhaps it was a male fox who saw you as a danger to his vixen and wanted to see you off.
    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
