Is it necessary for shops to sell fireworks before the 5th November? Despite being very expensive, they are now used more

Yes, because other cultures use fireworks for other festivals besides Nov 5th.

Excuse my ignorance but what other festivals? Few years ago, no shop was allowed to sell fireworks before November.

On the same arguements about early selling of fireworks, should we ban ban Christmas card sales in October, easter eggs in February etc!!

The date of Diwali varies - like Easter.

This year it happens to be on 5 November.

Yeah it's Diwali very soon and this is also celebrated with fireworks as well as a few other traditions

People also like fireworks for: weddings, new year (ours, Chinese, Thai, probably some others), Eid, the end of Disneyland (night time that is, not apocalypse), July 4th (Americans celebrating my birthday).
