TBH it's a bullshit day, even if you're in a relationship... it's not really "special" when you're doing the same thing as everyone else, (and paying twice the price for your dinner) is it?


As for secret admirers... anonymous cards and gifts sound a bit stalker-ish to me. Why would someone over the age of 15 do that? You're better off without.


Now go and join Match.com like everyone else!

My missus after talking to many of her friends and colleagues both men and women concludes that though we may all denounce VD it is more likely that a woman will feel they've missed out if there's no card, letter, meal or recognition of some kind.

What do you think, I'd be interested to hear views on this.

I agree KK, most women would probably expect at least a card. I've no problem with that - I'm not some sort of miserable miser - as long as it's all taken as a bit of superficial fun. I even bought a bottle of champagne last night (but ended up drinking most of it myself... hic...)

Went out yesterday morning to book a table for two. after visiting various locations.finally found the perfect table.I thought I would make our date a bit more mysterious so when I picked my date up. she agreed to wear a blindfold.arrived at our location the lights were low the table looked fantastic.I whipped her blindfold off .she looked at the table and said she hates f__king snooker and stormed off.women eh?

Sounds a bit 1980s Tom O'Connor.


First year with my wife (then girlfriend) in 1995, I booked Granita in Islington for Valentines night (restaurant later famed for being the venue for the Tony Blair / Gordon Brown leadership discussions).


Booked it about a month in advance. At that stage it would have been for us a reasonably expensive restaurant anyway but they then rang me the day before and advised their special menu for the night of ?100 per head (or contemporary equivalent price) was in operation - did I want to confirm my booking - we agreed to say no and went for a curry instead as everything else was by that time booked up.


Lovely curry at the Sunderban on the Blackstock Road - with Kingfisher too :)

The good news is that now it's the 15th , sainsburys had bunches of roses at half price


Regardless if you were sent any or not, grab yourself a bargain and enjoy the fact that you don't have to pick up your partners (non existent one little miss ) dirty underware and socks where he has missed the laundry basket again.... Every cloud .....

If you love someone why wait 364 days to tell them?


I think Valentine's Day is quite sweet though.


I got a lovely card of a cat sitting on a bird table, and I sent my OH an ecard of some dogs.


We didn't actually meet up on the day .....


Each to their own, eh?


And if you didn't get a card, well, better to be by yourself than with someone you feel trapped in a relationship with, eh?


I hasten to say I am not speaking for myself, I am very happy with my OH :)

Hubby got me 10 red roses last week, days before Valentine's Day as he knows I cannot stand the commercialism of Valentine Day. I did joke that times must be hard as in our much younger years it was a dozen red roses. He has after over 30 years got the hint that I do not want to get a Valentine Card as he does little things through out the year to demonstrate his love.

To all the lovely beautiful ladies of ED, who received roses and various other gifts, I say I hope you had a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed yourselves.


To all the ugly fat birds of ED, who possibly missed out, I say don't worry, be happy, it's less than two weeks to shrove tuesday !!!!

I'm already counting down the days. I love a nice pancake. You can't eat roses, and sentimental chocolates make me heave.

      Re Day One, £52 for a short hair cut (cut & styling) and £72 for a long hair cut (cut & styling) which I believe is below the ears.  £38 for a blow dry which doesn’t appear to be included in the cut price as it’s not mentioned.  £15 for a fringe tidy.      I remember being startled to be charged separately for a blow dry by the salon that used to be in Melbourne Grove but is now closed down.  I was asked if I wanted a blow dry after the cut and highlights and said yes, but wasn’t told that I would be charged separately.  Only found out when I went to pay the bill.    Was offered a voucher on a further appointment.    De.Salon which used to be Cut-Throat in Peckham (Choumert Rd and Brixton) charge from £45 for a Short haircut that finishes by the ears.  They charge from £40 for any haircut that finishes below the jawline.  Their prices include a blow dry.  But if you have thick hair they charge an extra £15 for every additional 15 minutes for cutting.     I had my hair cut there before the name change.  I don’t understand the from part of the price. Had a look at the Blue Tit pricing which is very complicated. They charge depending on the stylist’s  experience.  Crab Salad in Peckham  -  short hair cut above the ear - from £69.    Long hair Cut below the ear from £80. Blow dry not mentioned as being included in the cut but is priced at £55 I noticed that Kuki charge different prices for men and women.  Doesn’t seem right if a woman has short hair and a man has long hair.   I used to go to a great salon in NW London  that charged the same price for men and women and stopped going when they upped their prices for women.

      I have been training at the hub for just over one year. I really enjoy the variety of training offered and the quality of the instructors. Very effective group classes and enjoyable in the open air! A very welcoming place which makes a fitmess journey pleasant!
