sveness
Hi all,I just wanted to recommend a new class I've been going to to all the new mums out there. Mind Over Matter Boxing is an absolutely fantastic way to get back into shape after having the baby and to meet other Mums in a similar situation. This is my second child so I haven't done NCT classes and had been struggling to meet people but Simone Harvey who runs the classes pairs you with Mums with children of a similar age and the group is extremely friendly and welcoming.I found the type of exercise Simone does left me feeling really upbeat and energised, so much so that I have now started personal training with her, which is tough but very enjoyable and rewarding. In only a few weeks I feel so much better and happier that I wanted to share my experience in case anyone else could benefit from this type of class.Simone has a website www.mindovermatterboxing.co.uk and her number is 07910230296 if anyone wants any more info. ennikat
Hi, to add to this I can really recommend Simone and the boxing classes. I did the classes after my first daughter was born and am doing both classes and PT with Simone now I'm on my second maternity leave. I have knee injuries so boxing is great for me post pregnancy as it focuses on upper body and we do a fair amount of abs to get rid of my baby bump. Most of all though it's great fun and relaxed as Simone is from the area, knows loads of mums, has 2 boys of her own and is totally cool with the chaos that comes with bringing along little ones! By no means does that mean easy though, I'm always bright red by the end. DaniCar1
Hi allJust to second (or third) this recommendation for mummy boxing! If you need a tough but seriously fun workout try this class.I'm on second maternity too and without NCT this time have found this a brilliant sociable way to meet new mums And really train hard.I've also been doing some PT sessions with Simone but I've split the cost in half with another mum- so we do a full hour but half the session is with her,the other half is exercises set by Simone. Both bits of the Training equally hard but weirdly fun. I always leave both classes and PT with a smile on my (very sweaty)face. KT_D
I can also vouch for all the recommendations for mummy boxing, the mixed classes and PT with Simone. You work hard, you have fun & you get results. Simone is an excellent trainer. alexjj80
Another vote from me!I was desperate to do "proper" exercise after my first baby and the usual buggy fit and post natal classes weren't quite my thing. But how do you do that with a little one in tow?! And then thank my lucky stars I stumbled across Simone and Mind Over Matter Boxing. Initially I went to the Mummy classes, which were awesome - a fun, friendly, supportive environment that would leave you sweating like crazy and hurting the next day in such a great way. You push as hard as you want though and not doing every thing isn't frowned upon which is great - I had a C section so I had to do alternatives to some things till my muscles strengthened again, which Simone was great at handling/advising me on. I now do one on one PT classes which I love love love. We do boxing, HIIT, but also a lot of kick boxing work - after my hip flexor injury I didn't think I'd have the confidence to kick again and here I am! I can't tell you how much I love it and how miserable I am when I have to miss it due to illness.A friendly word of advice - don't mention the word boxercise to her like EVER!;) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/143095-mummy-boxing/#findComment-1108605 Share on other sites
amandajaneway
One of the best exercise classes I've ever done! Simone is awesome, full of energy and enthusiasm and the class is really welcoming and friendly. I started off at Mummy boxing, even though my kids are a bit bigger, but that didn't matter. It was great fun training surrounded by bemused looking toddlers! I now go to the family boxing on Sunday as my son was keen to join in. Even my husband and daughter are now in on the action. 90 mins of intense workout and home for a well deserved Sunday roast. :-)Have also done some PT sessions with Simone which are amazing. Over the last 6 months I feel so much healthier, in body and in mind. I thoroughly recommend it! Smallpotatoes
I want to add my shout out about Simone too. She is brilliant and these are the best exercise classes ever. We have been going as a family for about a month and from day one we were all addicted. I've also been to the mummies' and mixed classes and just wish I'd found this years ago, when my boy was little, as we never did find a mother and baby class that we liked and I ended up really out of shape, the gym never being compelling enough. It helps that she's a mum and will literally hold the baby if it's your turn on the bag. At the family class two very lovely girls train the kids separately and it turns out my six-year-old loves doing burpees. The classes are suitable for both the really unfit (me) and people who think they're really fit and then realise they haven't scraped the surface (my partner, who was out of puff five minutes into the warm-up). You can go at your own pace, its loads of fun, you get fit and you leave feeling exhilarated. I feel so much healthier already.Did I say it was addictive? amydaisy
Another recommendation for Simone?s Mummy Boxing from me!I was a bit anxious at my first session; not only was it my first boxing session but also one of the first post-partum workouts. But Simone was so welcoming and really took care to show me what I needed to do, explaining all the moves and making sure I knew what I was doing. I Walked away nice and sweaty, having had such a good workout. It?s amazing to be able to workout for such good value, nice and locally AND to be able to bring the baby too! Basically it means there?s no excuse! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/143095-mummy-boxing/#findComment-1289927 Share on other sites
