You're being a bit cloak & dagger. Are we talking camping in the open air? Or cooking in a windowless underground cave?

I still say desposable bbq, or possible small camping gas stove with a pan.

If in an underground bunker, designed to live in after nuclear fall out, I'd go with the microwave... And can I come too if you know somthing we don't.

It might be. Or it might be about making bacon sandwiches in a well-known wine bar on Lordship Lane.

The nuclear bunker idea is another possibility though.

Why not try it before passing judgement? If it works, it should be a fairly simple solution to implement.

Let the cooked bacon cool to room temperature to prevent the rashers from sticking together then stack them in an airtight container and store under refrigeration until required.

Avoid touching the rashers with bare hands - use tongs - and they should stay fresh for a couple of days at least - but you'll need to confirm that with your food hygiene expert.

Yes Jah. I am being fussy. Because it is so that we can serve food to the public, and if I am going to ask for your hard earned cash I'd like what I'm serving to taste nice. So I'm going to try it out, but it needs to be very good indeed before I'll put it on the menu and ask for your money.

And I make no apologies for that.

    • Eh? I'm not sure whose post you are responding to, but if it was mine, you  "clearly do not know how much it costs"? I have two granddaughters who have frequently stayed with my partner and myself in London, since the younger one was four. I wasn't commenting on the cost of taking children out in London. I was asking exactly what a holiday science club was doing with the children to warrant charging £242 for five hours! You "clearly" did not read my post!  You don't have to take children on expensive outings. As you say, there are plenty of free/cheap  things for children to do in London, and children enjoy choosing things to go in their packed lunch which they can carry themselves in a little backpack. As for buying toys etc, you can give them pocket money at the start of their stay, to spend how they want, and if they make poor choices and then run out of money, it's a learning experience, isn't it. And I suspect I am at least as old as you, and quite possibly older! But in any case, Pugwash was not asking for general comments, s/he was asking for specific suggestions for a specific boy with specific interests.
    • Has anyone else noticed the new King Charles 3 Post box in East Dulwich? Let's see who spots it first!
    • Why..??   In other countries, no one makes such a song and dance.. We are only talking about a cutting - years ago, one would ask but now, people don’t even se each other - let alone ask .. everyone is busy.. Says it all, when someone takes what? A cutting at night and on CCTV…. More important things in world I would have thought.. so at Halloween, when one has trick and treat, all going to be monitored on CCTV.. just in case a fight breaks out..  One chooses to live in a city, so just get on with it - rich & poor alike / ED is what?     Oh, so it is fine to take a cutting from a park? But not in passing in a front garden??
