Just wanted to say thanks (and welcome to the new members) and the supportive messages on the facebook group Im a frightened arthropod (insect)get me out of here and the messages and ideas for my website wwww.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com this is only one of those free websites so l am a little limited with space on it but if it takes off well enough l might pay the small subscription and make it a bigger site in time. just wanted to say thanks for the nice support so far and hope you start using the forum on the site soon, there are quite a few pages that are only available for members as l could only get some pages to show. l have never set up a website before and because this is free l dont get any instructional support on how to do it so lm learning as l go so if a page suddenly vanishes thats why(l have only done this twice so far) and it will reappear soon after lol.

Thankyou, wildlife+punk for responding to my original post and adding your input. It is so good to know that other people are on my wavelength,

I've viewed your website, and joined your facebook page.

You are doing a wonderful job, speaking for the animals.

If more people could think like us, more creatures could live in peace x

He or she can only speak for themself, Ridgley, can't they.

Just as anybody else can.

They can't speak for all "animal rights people like yourselves" - or would you disagree?

why thank you Sue l do my best, l just hope to see some more new members on my website the more support the more l can do. l am thinking of doing my next lm a celeb protest this monday or tues if anyone fancies joining me. l dont want the programme banned l just want the animal cruelty bit stopped, it teaches young children that its ok to "use" animals for entertainment. plus if one programme gets away with it then it spreads, even James May joined in recently on his "man lab" programme by encouraging some wasps to a jam butty then setting a firework rocket to blow them up???!!

l am aiming to go either this coming monday or tues to London, was thinking of going up by the houses of parliament somewhere, lm trying to get a kindly copy shop somewhere as l need to get at least one copy of the petition l have so that l can send one to no10 and later one to take to the offcom building, not having much luck at the moment either being told they dont want to or 2 that said they would didnt have the kind of copier that would auto feed the sheets to copy and it would have taken ages to put them each on by hand as there are 80+ sheets!!

First of all I am a she, just to clear that up and I did say some animal rights supporters not all the only reason why asked this questions as I have met a few in my time and some of them are extreme with there views they care more about a Rat on a street then there neighbours freezing there tits off!

It?s great you have combined your love for animals and working with abused children but you are quite rare in my experience I just think there should be a balance that?s all.

Ridgley l do hope you didnt think l was being abrupt in my reply to you l certainly didnt intend to, l do know of quite a few people who are extreme in that , l was quite shocked when l was camped outside ITV in june+july people were reading my banners and coming up to me in quite a defence manner and asking if l was a vegetarian then, and when l explained l was a pescatarian (someone who eats fish +shellfish but no meat) they got all defensive about how l could still eat animals and complain about the programme??

l tried explaining that l eat them because l am wheat intolerant +cant digest a lot of the lentils etc +how my dr said l would have to either eat fish or have injections 2-3 times a month for health reasons, but they just got very defensive and nasty, so l ended up just agreeing that l was a veggie when asked to save further hassle.

l joined an anti animal cruelty group some years ago but walked out and reported them when l found out they had broken into an animal testing lab and released a load of animals into the wild, those animals could have had any number of things wrong with them, or could have infected wild animals with all sorts of diseases, apart from the fact they were probably bred in the lab and wouldn't know how to look after themselves.

There are some very forceful protestors out there, l lost the chance of some groups coming to support me in june-july as they wanted yo bring megafones and allsorts and when l explained l just wanted to do a decent, calm un intrusive protest they didnt want to know.

All l want to do is put my message across of what l and many others objects to about the programme, thats how l have managed to get so many big animal charities like The Born Free Foundation and Brian May (of Queen fame)( l am in the process of listing them on the website tho not sure if they are viewable to non members) to back and support me because they know lm not out to cause a riot l just want to stop the un necessary abuse of animal cruelty, all animals have the same rights as humans to be treated with respect and decency.

Theres a big difference between killing a creature to defend your home, yourself or the safety of family etc to killing or abusing an animal just for pleasure or "entertainment". btw l am also a she, an ageing punk rocker, amateur naturalist, honest, loyal, too soft for my own good, taurean stubborn, sci fi loving geek of a she. lol

regretably thanks to a complete cock up by a certain london police station and a few other people l have been told that the permission l evidently needed to do the protest tomorrow has not been submitted properly by the dept it was sent to, so if l do go ahead with the protest tomorrow l could land myself in problems with the police. So l shall be continueing to collect signatures both written and on my website www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com and will somehow be copying them to prepare a bundle to hand in to 10 downing street and another to the ofcom building, hopefully next week though l have to ring tommorrow to make sure this is ok.

l would really appreciate some people to come with me when l do these handovers so if anyones interested please contact me through my website thank you

This is an interesting discussion. I have a lot of sympathy with the view that a shopping centre is no place for live penguins but would one say the same of horses for example? Horses, like dogs are considered suitable working animals. The Police think nothing of taking horses into crowds (and train them for such). Deer are indeed working animals in some of their native lands too....where is the line drawn?

thankfully the riverside changed their mind about the penguins tho they did say on their website that it was because of the possible risk to customers due to a demonstration that they had been informed about?. not bothered about the excuse just glad they cancelled, not sure what this sudden craze is this year for penguins, what do they have to do with christmas anyway??

Sue hadn't heard anything about that, l will try and check it out and get back to you on that, dj l must admit l do cringe when l see the mounted police in crowd situ's no matter how hard they are trained it must be so very difficult and scary for them not to allow their fight or flight sense kick in, l was in tears when l watched the student riot and saw some of them attacking the horses they are so vulnerable.

lt can also be dangerous in other ways too, l was by big ben with my then 9yr old daughter in 2000 bringing in the new century, after the countdown etc people started to head away from big ben and some to various train stations, but for some reason the police put barracades across but didnt do anything about the crowds that were coming from the bridge and river towards parliament etc, so it got more and more crowded which knocked the barriers forward so the mounted police came over and moved the horses next to the barriers.

my daughter and l were near the front and it ended up with us being pressed hard against the barriers, l could barely breathe and my daughter was crying in terror, l called to the policeman about the situation but couldn't get his attention, then in the panic his horse jolted and kicked his hind leg back a few times, l managed to grab my daughter and pull her slightly behind me and got kicked by the horse 30seconds after, at this the officer bent downwards grabbed me by the hair and told another officer l had done something to the horse, which resulted in my being pulled round the barrier and losing my grip on my daughter, thank god an elderly gentleman stepped forward with my daughter and told them l'd done no such thing and that l had almost passed out because it was so crowded, had moved my daughter because of the horse panicking and that the horse had kicked me seconds later.

at this the officer was about to put us back behind the barriers but l said that l had a sister who worked for a daily newspaper and was going to phone her to say that the police were endangering peoples lives with an unnecessary barrier so they let us go and as we walked off, l tried to ring a relative to say happy new year and as l looked round they took down the barrier, it may have been coinsidence but l didnt care l was just relieved to be out of there.

What a frightening experience. Glad you were both OK.

There is a post somewhere on the forum about the reindeer in ED, but the Christmas Fair or whatever it was has been and gone now and I was away, so I don't know if it ever happened. There was supposed to be some sort of procession, then Santa's Grotto in the covered market with live reindeer.

WL+P, do you think you could put a space between your paragraphs (hit the enter button to do that), your posts are very hard to read?

Ta :)

just had it confirmed that it all go for this friday to hand in the petition etc to downing street, have just got to get a few copies made of everything as l have to take one to the ofcom building too as soon as l can.

l have made the facebook group a members only view as l was getting a few sarcastic remarks aimed at certain members, whilst l respect peoples opinions regarding what l am doing against animal cruelty l dont accept personal remarks made directly at members themselves, its unfair and nasty, one remark was made by someone on facebook that is out to cause misery and offence to people so at least making the page only accessable to members it should stop this childish behaviour. (well thats the theory at least)

As for the website www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com lve had over 200 visits over the weekend!!, please feel free to join up its easy, non fattening, friendly, good for you and free (its not often that can all be put together) there are some pages only available to members as l could only have so many pages available to everyone, right l got to get prepared for friday, will check back later.
