Whilst noting some old timers want to hark back to the days of hard boiled eggs on the bar, please can the esteemed members of the forum rank their pub Co brands by quality of food offering? 1=best etc

Contenders:

M&B (eg Plough,Dog)

Youngs (yacht club, the kids club on the hill)

Fullers (Half Moon)

Greene King (Bishop,The Actress, Rye etc)

Antic (EDT)

Laines (eg Great exhibition)

Thanks.

I'd pretty much have the same order as DTR. M&B is just plain awful, which is another reason why when the newly refurbished C&G re-opens the food offerings will be crap compared to the Half Moon who have a proper and well renowned chef on site. Another own goal for Dulwich Estates.
Agree with Jeremy about Antic. They are clever about their food offering. The EDT is regular good standard but not great modern pub fare, given the huge range of other eating options on LL. The Catford Constitutional Club by contrast, is genuinely very good indeed ? in an area that's a bit of an eating-out desert.

Unless it's how they plan it :)

Broadly agree although I haven't eaten in a Fuller's bar for some years now. Surprising that Greene King - whose ales a pretty mediocre - manage passable food.

M&B is depressing and very expensive for what it is, especially if it's not on expenses. But a lot of people seem to like their food...

I agree with this. WGT have great food and one of the best craft beer /ale selections in the area. Also a no screens policy so no sport shown which is often welcome.

I rarely eat in pubs - I don't really know why tbh, although if I'm out for beers ill tend to eat before i go out

I'm assuming you are not including the Lordship Frnaklins and Palmerston where I think people consider to be restaurants

I think my choices are pubs for drinking and the above three if going out principally for food.

I swear this guy is Louisa's husband.

I wish ...

To be fair to Keano, I am kind of with him.

It's not that I don't want to see food in pubs, I just wish it wasn't in pretty much EVERY pub.

I realise that the pubs (especially in London) basically need to sell food to survive, and that the sort of place I long for is history. But that doesn't mean I can't long for it.

Think I said to someone the other day, what I long for is a really nice "old man's pub", just with good beer and less miserable old men.

I need to move back to Liverpool, they still seem to exist there.

Anyway, as you were.

    • Hi all, Wondering if anyone else in/around SE22 is also having the unfortunate luck of having Evri parcels delivered by a very rude individual? Whenever we have parcels delivered, our front gate is being slammed open and closed, ring doorbell is harshly banged (not pressed) followed by simultaneously banging on the door knocker and slamming the letter box multiple times. Someone is normally home by the time they come in the evening and never has to wait long for an answer. If we’re not home, we speak to them on the doorbell so we do find the actions of this individual unreasonable and rude.  We have tried a couple of times politely asking that they not do this but they are very dismissive and gives a passive-aggressive “have a nice day” reply.  Has anyone been able to contact Evri and successfully had any issues similar to this resolved? We have enough evidence through our doorbell footage but we are lost with what else we can do. We’ve tried asking politely but don’t want our gate or door damaged by someone who simply doesn’t care and lacks basic manners.    If anyone else is having this issue or has any advice on how we can report this, it would be much appreciated. After another dismissive reply to my concern this afternoon, I will be calling Evri tomorrow to raise a complaint. I have lost my patience with them
    • Corbyn was unelectable - he got trashed by Boris who was a buffoon. It was a good job too because I would have hated to see Corbyn and his rag-tag bunch of far-left university politics backbenchers try to lead the country through Covid.  It is completely understandable why Starmer and the Labour Party want to purge Momentum from within their ranks and Cllr McAsh has fallen victim of that.
