Mellors
Pure class. I might get one for my sister's kid, just to see my sister spontaneously combust with indignation. nunheadmum
Couldn't believe it when my 4.5 year old, who hasn't been inside a McD's or similar since she was a couple of months old (and we don't eat them or see adverts etc), walked past a BurgerKing the other week and asked 'Mummy, when can we go somewhere that does yummy food like that.'So much for Annabel Karmel-esque weaning helping them appreciate decent food!! embo71
On a similar thread, my friend took her 5 year old to McDs for the first time (she didnt want her daughter to be the only kid in the class that had never eaten there etc), anyway she ordered a happy meal and then watched as her daughter expertly undid the box, got out the contents, took the gerkin out of the burger to throw away, then poured the fries into the opened burger paper and ate the meal as if she had eaten there everyday! She was so amazed that she rang her mother and told her the story, to which her mother said, 'oh yes dear, when i look after violet, we often go to McDonalds for a happy meal'........I wont tell you the rest of the conversation, but you can imagine....... Keef
Ha ha, I like that. We've not done the happy meal thing yet (she's only 20 months), but we've been out a couple of times, and gone in to a maccas to get food (for me), and given the little one a few chips or whatever. Truth be known, I don't think there is any real harm in doing it as a treat once in a while. Just not on a weekly basis. The toy thing is shocking though! Ruth_Baldock
Both toys terrible and hilarious. Embo71- EXACTLY the same thing happened with Me, my Mum and Grandad when I was about 7. He looked after me in Bristol whilst Mum was gallivanting around in labour with my sister (Well, not gallivanting...). The induction took 3 days and she was in hospital for another 2 after that, so he had me for 5 days. We went to Maccy D's AND The Harvester a few times and it was immense! LOVED IT! Mum a strict Vegan and health food nut, so she was NOT impressed. I was. Moos
Loving the McDonalds Barbie - and there's faithful old Ken flirtatiously asking Barbie if she'd like to super-size that. ClareC
My sister took my nephew to MC Donalds for the first time a couple of years ago, he thought it was disgusting and wouldn't eat his Happy Meal - she was so proud ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14908-toys-you-cant-believe-exist/#findComment-394059 Share on other sites
snowboarder
I know it is obv a hideous toy...but...I know also little snowboarder would love it! Doors to open and all those little packages in the kitchen. The whole McD bit would be completely irrelevant - he wont eat chips or burgers anyway (weird), so there we are. Not that we'll be getting it, mind. Lovely wooden workbench hiding upstairs... Keef
You're spot on, I'm sure not little kids would love playing with this toy. But who would buy it when there is so much available, that doesn't feature the golden arches. reren
Reminds me of my brother aged about 6 when we went for the first time to a posh(ish) restaurant. I was older and suitably impressed, but my brother looked around, sniffed distainfully and pronounced loudly and disappointedly for the restaurant to hear 'this is no macdonalds'Needless to say his child lives on entirely organic food and has never darkened the door of the golden arches!
