I just had a call from my friend who lives that way saying a massive HGV rolled backwards into a pedestrian, dragging her under, apparently her head went under the wheel! :'(

Not sure how conclusive this is as we know how these things become chinese whispers:-S

Awful if true though, it's all cloesed still apparently.

I was reflecting in an objective manner on an incident from my own past which was quite distressing to all involved at the time. It was most unpleasant indeed - but then again so is the subject of this thread so I don't quite know why one is edited and the other not.

She was a young black 29 year old woman just trying to catch the train in time. She was leaving LLoyds bank and somebody I know was exiting the bank at the same time, she held the door for people then crossed the road , the lorry was coming toward her and was not going too fast apparently, the lorry caught her and unfortunately ran over her. Poor girl. Poor family. This is the second incident this year that I know of tall lorries running over people. They should have sensors or something in place to help prevent this.

    • Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
    • I would also like to add my recommendation for James.  I had taken four names of electricians from the forum - in the order I had read the reviews.  First three no response - even days later. I phoned James this morning. He answered, gave me a time, stuck to it, messaged again 15 mins before arrival.  He fixed my problem on the spot.  Sensible charge out fee. Perfect service.
