poppet27
What's the best way to save and (avoid costly traps) when carpeting a flat? Any tips and tricks welcome. I'm surprised how much the local carpet shop has charged for Cloud9 underlay, grippers and fit. Even when carpet was about ?22msq.It's 2 reception rooms, plus landing and corner stairs, so totalling about 55m sq. We were looking at an 80/20 wool to poly in a twist. Do you have to negotiate hard? Do we buy underlay off eBay? Something else? Thanks. Waffo
We saw what we liked in the local carpet shop, looked online and found it at dourof carpets in catford. They then had cheaper underlay (for the same quality), cheaper grippers and cheaper fitting. It was a no brainier and our carpet looks great! yeknomyeknom
We order all underlay and carpet from burts.co.uk then get Steve (very well recommended on here) to fit. alex_b
We used Stephen Tozer, [email protected]. We found some carpet we liked from John Lewis and he did a great detective job to track down the manufacture and get us a much better price. He'll also fit carpet you source yourself although he seemed to be able to get it cheaper than we could. poppet27
Superb, thanks. Yes, the John Lewis Croft collection in particular is really nice but absolutely out of budget Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/151971-carpet-buying-any-tips-or-tricks-to-save/#findComment-1133184 Share on other sites
