No they have :)) according to Nintendo's Japanese web site, which I would trust more than CVG, the DSi will be region locked for downloadable content only, it remains to be seen whether they will mess with the browser.

Of course, you can bet that within a month, there will be a custom firmware to fix this along with any attempts Nin have made to block flashcards and homebrew.

So, is it just me that's exited about the new Castlevania to hit the DS?

Also, you know the worst thing about the DSi? You can bet your arse that a week before Christmas there will be Pokemon/Gundam/Harvest Moon/Final Fantasy/Hello Kitty skinned versions of it on sale, leaving everyone kicking themselves for buying/importing/begging relatives for the boring as hell coloured launch version..I saw a few places in Akihabara where you can have your DS custom-skinned with your images of choice, or if you pay extra for someone (mostly women) to paint your DS for you. The prices were from the equivalent of ?50 up to ?300!

Hmmm, there is a film being released stateside this month, starring Marky Mark Wahlberg, in the eponymously titled adaptation of the modern classic game - Max Payne.

From the trailer it looks possibly the greatest film ever, or possibly the worst - with the scales tipping slightly towards the latter. Look out for a brief cameo by Marlo Stansfield from The Wire.

Bloody hell though, that were a great computer game!

Sounds good, apart from the risible shop keeper attacking Wahlberg.

I notice that Clock Tower, which as already had a Japanese movie based on it, is getting remade for the Western market.

If you are into gaming movies (I've never been a fan, personally) do check out Sairen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494815/

I have never played the series, though Consolevania raved about it, but this is one hell of a movie, not sure if it ever got translated.

I see that Tron is getting a sequel, should be interesting / or quite possibly absolutely tragic!

Ever see "Reign over me" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490204/ ? I expected the worst, and only saw it as I read somewhere they used Shadow of the Colossus (never played that either, but know of its dev history) as a plot device, and had a right fight with the money because of the way it looked so low-rez on film, and was blown away by how good it was, and I only ever watch American movies made after '79 when the wife blackmails me into it.

Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet:

Think there was something similar at the MOMI some time ago.

Also, anyone else heard the recent Final Fantasy remix album, including some tracks by The Black Mages to boot

For what it was, I thought Doom was pretty decent :))

But with the worlds economies all down the shitter, it will be interesting to see the difference between sales vs tracker stats :))

Well, last post from me here for a good while, working on the blog now, and by the lack of interest in my posts, have bored you lot to death anyhow, I'm sure.

Couldn't go without one last bit of news, a remake of R-Type I and II (but no Leo? for shame!) which has just been shown at the Tokyo Games Show http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/21983

Goodnight! :)-D

My laptop wont play Games at the moment after a virus attack. After Windows reinstall my ATI Radeon x300 drivers will not install properly. I've updated them and even tried to fix them using a Mobile Modder but to no avail...anyone out there have any ideas? :(

    • In what way? Maybe it just felt more intelligent and considered coming directly after Question Time, which was a barely watchable bun fight.
    • Yes, all this. Totally Sephiroth. The electorate wants to see transformation overnight. That's not possible. But what is possible is leading with the right comms strategy, which isn't cutting through. As I've said before, messaging matters more now than policy, that's the only way to bring the electorate with you. And I worry that that's how Reform's going to get into power.  And the media LOVES Reform.
    • “There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda ” I would call this “generous”   Labour should never have made that tax promise because, as with - duh - Brexit, it’s pretending the real world doesn’t exist now. I blame Labour in no small part for this delusion. But the electorate need to cop on as well.  They think they can have everything they want without responsibilities, costs or attachments. The media encourage this  Labour do need to raise taxes. The country needs it.  Now, exactly how it’s done remains to be seen. But if people are just going to go around going “la la laffer curve. Liars! String em up! Vote someone else” then they just aren’t serious people reckoning with the problem yes Labour are more than a year into their term, but after 14 years of what the Tories  did? Whoever takes over, has a major problem
    • Messaging, messaging, messaging. That's all it boils down to. There are only so many fiscal policies out there, and they're there for the taking, no matter which party you're in. I hate to say it, but Farage gets it right every time. Even when Reform reneges on fiscal policy, it does it with enough confidence and candidness that no one is wringing their hands. Instead, they're quietly admired for their pragmatism. Strangely, it's exactly the same as Labour has done, with its manifesto reverse on income tax, but it's going to bomb.  Blaming the Tories / Brexit / Covid / Putin ... none of it washes with the public anymore  - it wants to be sold a vision of the future, not reminded of the disasters of the past. Labour put itself on the back foot with its 'the tories fucked it all up' stance right at the beginning of its tenure.  All Lammy had to do (as with Reeves and Raynor etc) was say 'mea culpa. We've made a mistake, we'll fix it. Sorry guys, we're on it'. But instead it's 'nothing to see here / it's someone else's fault / I was buying a suit / hadn't been briefed yet'.  And, of course, the press smells blood, which never helps.  Oh! And Reeve's speech on Wednesday was so drab and predictable that even the journalists at the press conference couldn't really be arsed to come up with any challenging questions.
