Was just checking if ZP had done Far Cry 2 (I think it was Crysis he actually savaged) and stumbled upon him at his best reviewing

Eve Online

"I can only imagine this game appeals to nerds who are to nerds what nerds are to normal people"

Hi guys,

Havn't read the whole post so dunno if you've discussed this but..

Whilst I was waiting for all the top games to come out on the x360 I got hold of Metroid Prime Corruption for the Wii and I must say it's one of the best FPS's I've ever played! The motion controls work really well and the whole mix of puzzles and shooting works really well. The biggest surprise is that it looks awesonme as well. I was used to crappy graphics on all my Wii games. If you ain't tried it its worth getting hold of.

btw Sean if you've got the orange box you should go straight for Portal it's the best part of the whole package.

I had the First 'FPS' Metroid on the gamecube and have to say it was an absolute triumph.

Have heard good things of the Wii version, and it would be nice to see a genuinely good application of the Wiimote, so consider me sold on that yourmomma

yourmomma - thanks for the tip. It's something people have been telling me for ages and I've read lots about it so can't wait to get stuck in. I did load it for a sneak peek but my brain hasn't been all that this week and so I whimpered for a bit and decided to come back to it ;-)

I see Portal has also come out on Live Arcade this week with extra bits and bobs attached.

I love Metroid Prime on the Gamecube! Got to the final battle (not actually tried it yet), but need to go back and finish it off... Bought the sequel for GC, which I have never even started. Much as I want the Wii one, I have this stupid thing where I don't feel I can start a new game until I have finished the previous one :-S

Sorry, putting this post on 2 threads to get responses.

Has anyone had trouble getting gamecube games to work on Wii? Keep putting different disks in, and it just won't read them! Very annoying, as I have loads of Gamecube games I want to revisit / start!!!

Could just set the gamecube up again, but that's beside the point! :X

We had discs ejecting ealier this week and looked it up on line - found this which may be relevant to your problem

I've been enjoying it a lot too, though it gets a little repetitive and I'm beginning to sense the main quest is short, and there are AI and control issues, but there are indeed so many nice touches, and loads of sidequests. Loving the pottymouthed scottish Gargoyles.

That said, my financial empire is growing quite nicely thankyou (2 grand every five minutes...kerching!), and soon I shall own ALL ALBION!!!

From what I can gather there are loads of side-quests which remain open long after the main quest

Plus the possibility of downloading new quests as well

Even if Gable 2 is short,Ffallout 3 tomorrow and that is going to be a huuuuge effort

Haven't even managed to consumate my marriage let alone catch an std off one of the ladies of the night. Problem with being a good guy is that the less salubrious parts of town are now jolly nice thanks to my actions.

Grrr.

How does one going about persuading ones missus to get jiggy with it?

The bookshop in the main market town square sells a number of.. well, books

One of them (the last one IIR - but the title is obvious) needs to be bought and read

then when you meet the missus, choose the new option from the flirting menu

then go to bed - you will be given some... new options before sleep

I went out and bought a copy of Deadspace yesterday but havent had time to play it yet. I went through the story set-up and intro and I'm a bit scared to get down to the action now. Playing through Resi 4 I often found myself wondering if being scared all the time while playing it was actually an enjoyable experience or not....course it was. Welcome to Fear

So what are the scariest games people have played?

Some moments in the first res game quite literally made me jump and lose the controller, though I was a bit jaded by most of the ensuing reses.

There was a level with the flickering lights and the teleportery type slaves in half-life where I recall being very nervous.

Ravensholme in 2, eeek.

First time T-Rex attacked in first tomb raider.....any more?

Going back in time - the flickering lights in some of the Doom rooms had me very nervous. yes they look silly now but...

Parts of BioShock creeped me out as well

Ravenhome is a great level but almost scarier for me were the horizons on the water levels - weird echoey tannoys and the suggestion of a brutal horrible horrible world...

    • I'm sorry to hear this - there is too much of this around. Your son did the right thing to let go of his possessions - I hope he's not too shaken up and certainly not taking it personally, or thinking he should have done something vigilante style like fighting back. We live very close by and are usually out in the evenings with the dogs - hardly ever see anyone so will take extra care from now on.
    • Really sorry to hear this. I hope he's OK and not too shaken.
    • My goodness, that is a shocking lack of care shown by the Council and individual Councillors. I had thought Cllr Hamvas would fight to preserve and protect Peckham Rye and the park environment. How can we now possibly trust this Council to do this? Cllr Rose, who was the Cabinet Member in charge of all this has a lot to answer for.
    • A reminder that this is the post-festival litter I collected a week or so after the Council had signed off Gala's litter picking activity and reopened the park to the public. For clarity this was a result of just wandering around the stage, tent & toilet areas in the south of the site for about an hour. Not difficult to see, far from a focused, professional 'pick', and not comprehensive - there will have been loads more spread over the rest of the site, which is probably still there now. Apart from being unpleasant, there's a safety aspect here - kids & dogs picking up bits of glitter balls, shards of plastic cups, baggies containing white powder?? I collected a similar amount the previous year.  I contacted Charlie Simm (Events Team) for her reaction (cc'd Renata Hamvas & Victoria Mills, Peckham Rye councillors) and received no response. When VM thankfully followed up as to all why the litter picking wasn't satisfactory, and what actions were planned to remedy this, CS just escalated it as an official complaint. This complaint was dismissed a few months later with the comment that, apart from the cable ties, there was no proof that the litter had come from the festival. RH has remained silent throughout all my correspondence. I've considered doing a comprehensive litter survey before & after the event to categorically guage the impact of the festival, using metre squares and approved methodology, maybe even inviting relevant students as a project, but I feel whatever the results, they would just be ignored by the council - completely pointless.
