Not had much gaming time what with new baby and a toddler, but finally managed half hour to look at L.A. Noire.

First impressions are very good, the look and feel are cool, and the gameplay just like RDR or GTA4. Basically, it's another good game from rockstar.

Can't you even fucking pick up lava? Because I can

Unusually positive reviews from Zero Punctuation for 2 new XBLA games.. I agree with him on both, but have a real preference for Bastion. It's just... like games they way they were but made now.

Otta - LA Noire I intend to check out because I like the location, Rockstar, Mad Men and the concept. But I have a feeling that it is a starting point for a much better sequel

I've embarked on Deus Ex Human Revolution.

So far so good, and it feels really deus exy which is the most important thing. Dark, brooding, conspiracy laden, neon drenched cyberpunk stuff, but prettier this time round and with better acting.

Remember the tedious hacking mini game in bioshock though, now that was annoying.

I loved on review of DE:he where the chap said that though the AI of the notoriously short sighted guards in the first game has been vastly improved upon, that their lack of inquisitiveness was a new flaw.

His favoured hacking method was to build a little camp from boxes every time the guards back is turned and then sit inside and do the hacking unseen once it's complete out of their line of sight, but you mightbhave thought they ought to be suspicious.

I played the last two Elder Scrolls games and was looking forward to the new one. Unfortunately my graphics card packed up the other day and although I found a spare in a shoe box on top of the wardrobe, it must be a late 90's early noughties vintage and looking at
I don't think it's going to be upto the job.

Okay, so I'm on half term, and had lots of Gaming planned, with Alice: Madness Returns, and L.A. Noir amongst others.

Instead, I played 5 minutes yesterday, then the screen froze, and I got The RRoD.

Anyway, as a result, I've decided to upgrade to a new xbox, with big hard drive. Does anyone have a Data transfer kit I could borrow?

Don't mind buying one for ?12, but as I'll (hopefully) only need it once, thought I'd ask.

As I'm in here I have to wax about Dark Souls

Simply stunning - most intense video game sessions I've had in years and years

Brutally hard - way beyond anything you might have experienced since the 80s

It's so brutally hard, just reading this post just might have injured you in some way

I must admit that I'm quite tempted - it just sounds a bit heavy, time investment wise.

My wife expressed "deep concern" this morning at my recent, stupidly late to bed, ps3 induced, brain scrambling - inversely related to general productivity. I just don't think the marriage can weather Dark Souls - for Christ's sake, think of the kids!

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
