BluRay v HD-DVD is a war I'm not interested in. I spent so long replacing my VHS with widescreen VHS and then DVD - and now I don't think either format will be around long enough to dominate, what with broadband speeds increasing

I like watching HD movies but not enough to fork out for the discs

Not just the MS stuff either. The 360 pulls mp3s & photos off my computers nicely. Now that it supports more video formats I can play everything through it (hopefully). Hide a bunch of hard disks in the loft & stream everything over the network.

There is no getting away from that. And I felt it most keenly about half way through. Having finished the thing however I realised that I hadn't put enough thought into most of my actions and realised I could have been more inventive. So... I have been doing just that

Also, the mechanics of the gameplay became secondary to the events....

played HL to death on the PC back in the day. I thought BioShock was supposed to be groundbreaking - oh well. Sean - don't have much to offer by way of trade - PGR3 (or 4 not sure), Table Tennis (good with the missus - as only 1 button (definately not an ironic comment), Perfect Dark Zero and obviously Halo 3. I need to invest more. Nothing has beaten Deus Ex for me.

I played way too much HL. Druken HL DM with those tracking rockets. Brilliant!

Picked up Rainbow Six Vegas on sale the other day. Just getting into it. The series was a favourite when it came out on PC. This one is quite good as well. More on the run tactical than the old forward planning, but it works.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
