San Andreas has been lots of fun (near the end now), but buggy and crashy which has been a bit grating along the way. Only playing on ipod touch (5th gen) though, so may be better on better devices.

Why must Rockstar insist on having flying missions in GTA games though. They are always the ones that I struggle with.

2 years (TWO!) after the game was released Zero Punctuation finally gets around to reviewing Dark Souls (explaining along the way why it took so long to get into it, how wrong he was and how great it is)

The flying missions are annoying but great fun. Especially the helicopter ones.

I'm slowly making my way through GTA V on XBox when I am given some occasional free time.

At this moment in time, neither PS4 or XBOX ONE are compelling proposals

No you can't play GTAV on it (reason being it's build completely differently inside - would be like trying to run a spectrum game on a C64)

Even media playback on the new consoles isn't as good as PS3/Xbox 360

so for first time in ever, I'm not buying a new generation console. Just yet

Fact is they are powerful beasts which will eventually be home to some cracking stuff - but by then they will be cheaper anyway

The fact that I understood that analogy makes me realise that I am probably too old to still be playing video games.

:)

I would always have said said 360 in the pass but a PS Plus account changes everything in PS3 favour

to go online on either console costs 40-60 quid a year. If you do that on PS3, you get several free games every month. Big releases as well, not some 4 year old relic (so think Bioshock Infinity, latest Tomb Raider etc instead of Halo 3)

actually on PS3 I don't think you need to pay anything to go online - but if you do join PS+ its still cheaper than xbox plus all those games

I only play games on my PS3 rarely... but when I do, it always seems to force me to download an update for the game first. And then when I do that, the game refuses to start up until I update the OS. Half an hour later, I've lost interest. I preferred the Megadrive.

ha - partly true jeremy. It used to be much worse

and again, if you have PS+ it does a lot of that updating automatically overnight

360 used to be much better at that sort of thing - but recent UI updates mean I barely switch the darn thing on now

    • Unless we don't fly I don't think we can be too critical of the authorities.
    • In 2016 London City Airport began using concentrated flight paths. When there's a predominantly westerly wind, incoming aircraft approach from East London (north of the River). When there's a predominantly Easterly wind, incoming aircraft approach the airport from the West: circling through Forest Hill, Dulwich, Vauxhall, Tower Hamlets, Docklands. This latter flight path affects many of us in South East London. https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/london-city-airport-concentrated-flight-paths The planes going into City are often below 2,000 ft, so very noisy. Sometimes we have incoming Heathrow at the same time, flying higher. The early flights that I hear e.g. 04:30 are incoming to Heathrow. They are scheduled to land at 05:30 but are 'early'. Apparently the government allows a percentage of flights to arrive early and late (but these are now established as regular occurrences, informally part of the schedule). IMHO Londoners are getting very poor political representation on this issue. Incredible that if you want to complain about aircraft noise, you're supposed to contact the airport concerned! Preposterous and designed solely in favour of aviation expansion.
    • Yet another recommendation for Jafar. Such a nice guy, really reliable and fair. He fixed a problem with our boiler and then incredibly kindly made two more visits to replace a different part at no extra cost.
    • I didn't have any problems with plane noise until city airport started flying planes to and from about 5-8 minutes apart from 5.30 am or  6 am,  and even with ear plugs and double glazing I am woken at about 6 well before I usually would wake  up. I have lived here since 1986 and it is relatively recently that the planes have been flying far too low over East dulwich. I very much doubt that they are headinbg to Heathrow or from Heathrow. As the crow flies we are much , MUCH closer to City Airport than Heathrow or Gatwick. I even saw one flying so low you could see all the windows, when I was in Peckham Rye Park.
