Hi all,

I am part of a group of tutors who run foreign-language playgroups. We have had success with our French and German groups, and are thinking of launching a Mandarin group in the East Dulwich/Peckham area if there is sufficient interest.

In line with our current groups, it would be led by a native speaker and trained tutor, and would be very relaxed and friendly. We would like to welcome parents with all levels of Mandarin, but with circle time tailored to those just starting out with the language so that they can learn songs, rhymes and chants alongside their little ones and practice at home if they wish.

It would be amazing to have your thoughts on the group - is it something that would be of interest? Are there specific things that you would like/hate to see included? Where and when would be good in terms of venue and time? Any feedback would be awesome!

Many thanks in advance,

Lucy

Hi Lucy

We would definitely be interested for our 4 year old who starts school in September (so midweek school hours wouldn't be good for us). He's got quite a bit of mandarin vocab (from living previously in Singapore), which we're trying to maintain. Would be keen to keep in touch with you about your playgroup idea. Thanks

Hi Jellybeanse,

I've replied to the others on the thread in individual PMs, sorry! We haven't quite had the interest we would need to set up a playgroup just yet so we've put the idea on hold for the time being. We'd love to hear from anyone who has an interest in learning Mandarin though, and would be very happy to run a smaller, more bespoke group if there was interest. You can find us at www.struckfluent.com.

Many thanks!

Lucy

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
