Interest in a Mandarin playgroup?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am part of a group of tutors who run foreign-language playgroups. We have had success with our French and German groups, and are thinking of launching a Mandarin group in the East Dulwich/Peckham area if there is sufficient interest.

In line with our current groups, it would be led by a native speaker and trained tutor, and would be very relaxed and friendly. We would like to welcome parents with all levels of Mandarin, but with circle time tailored to those just starting out with the language so that they can learn songs, rhymes and chants alongside their little ones and practice at home if they wish.

It would be amazing to have your thoughts on the group - is it something that would be of interest? Are there specific things that you would like/hate to see included? Where and when would be good in terms of venue and time? Any feedback would be awesome!

Many thanks in advance,

Lucy

Hi Lucy

We would definitely be interested for our 4 year old who starts school in September (so midweek school hours wouldn't be good for us). He's got quite a bit of mandarin vocab (from living previously in Singapore), which we're trying to maintain. Would be keen to keep in touch with you about your playgroup idea. Thanks

Hi Jellybeanse,

I've replied to the others on the thread in individual PMs, sorry! We haven't quite had the interest we would need to set up a playgroup just yet so we've put the idea on hold for the time being. We'd love to hear from anyone who has an interest in learning Mandarin though, and would be very happy to run a smaller, more bespoke group if there was interest. You can find us at www.struckfluent.com.

Many thanks!

Lucy

    • It's grass.  It will regrow.  It's not native fauna, wild meadows etc.  Just like many of our gardens, it's ornamental. You could argue that most of our park land is ornamental rather than a nature reserve.  Would time not be better spent getting involved with a wildlife trust or similar charity?
    • Looks more like the Somme to me  Maybe that's the point, the Gaia is the Somme of its parts 🤔
    • That photo bottom right (from the pictures posted on X), is that really Peckham Rye Park?  Looks like the Sierras after a fire when there were only burned twigs, before a rainstorm happened.
    • I’d like to see an inspection by the councillors, with a photo in the media - just so we know that they are aware of this. I’m all for a party but this damage is awful
