good books for 2.5 year old???

I bought our daughter "in the night garden, the complete songs and rhymes book & cd", which she loves. She seems to have lost interest in the tv show, but loves the book, and really responds to it.

Lots of what has already been recommended is good, plus my son likes AA Milne's "When we were young" poems. And Mr Men books (although we're not such a big fan).

But the best thing is just to pick loads up at the library, try them and see what they start asking for. Then repeat a month later. My son's current favourites include the Elephant's Pillow and Monkey's Bedtime - just picked up and random and turned out to be lovely.

I know you have enough ideas already (by the look of it!) but just want to suggest 2 titles that my 2 year ild LOVES (as did many classes of Reception kids that I taught in the past):

"Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly" and "Faster Faster Nice and Slow" by Nick Sharratt and Sue Heap.

Has them in fits of giggles, brilliant rhyming text (v good for early literacy development) and wonderful bright pictures.
