"Speaking ahead of a meeting with Mrs May on Wednesday, the Democratic Unionist Party's leader Arlene Foster said: "The current backstop is toxic to those of us living in Northern Ireland.?"

It's worth remembering that most NI residents and those with close ties to NI have automatic citizenship of the ROI including her. It's annoying that she can talk like this with her "get out of jail free" card sitting in her back pocket.

Effectively all the DUP will retain freedom of movement via ROI dual citizenship.

?

By the way - if everything you have said turns out to be true by the end of May 2019 I will eat my words. I won't do it naked, or on television, or hopping down the South Bank, but I will eat my words.?

And remainers (like me) who think the worst will happen should also be able to eat our words

But if it is remainers eating their words, then so what. No one will have been affected or harmed. Yay!

But if people like you Robbin are wrong, then I?m not sure you eating your words will provide sufficient comfort

And in breaking news: from the Times

?New

Cabinet ministers told PM it's time to go public with the reality of no deal

Rudd said the Govt needs to be 'straight with the British people' and lift lid on implications for national security

Gove apparently supportive & called for daily TV and radio adverts?

I would say it?s because there?s a certain type of Leave voter which will blame the EU for anything that does not go totally our way. They refuse to acknowledge that we did a lot of this to ourselves, and insist on thinking that somehow the EU is supposed to give us everything we ask for.

Like many of the rich and powerful advocating for Hard Brexit, she has very little to lose.

The DUP are mediaeval scum who are perfectly happy to take our money while having vile attitudes. The fact that they hold such disproportionate influence on the lives of us on the mainland makes me sick.

That?s definitely part of it Joe

But I?m saying - In flat contradiction of Robbin - that the country is on the brink of total disaster and meltdown.

Even some of the leavers in govt realise this. They have read the impact assessments and can read the runes

They just didn?t expect people to be so credulous of all of the promises over the last few years.

Once the fit hits the shan, the people who have been in power for last couple of years will be sought

I have an ominous feeling of this too - as if we're on the edge.

Might be me but sometimes feel I'm one flash point away from joining the revolution LOL.

I can complain to pubs, stores, organisations and get an apology even when I'm in the wrong but in a democracy this government doesn't listen to anybody and continues to spread lies and nonsense. Everything on all sides is about political points scoring.

The revolution if it came of course would be peaceful but unstoppable.

Just so I'm clear, what do you mean by "people like you Robbin"?

He doesn't mention newspapers - but simply says 'I've been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan to carry it out safely.'

To my mind that refers to politicians, although of course plenty of newspapers could be included in that definition. Also noteworthy, and unsurprising, that his view is that with May and Corbyn both uninterested in 'Remain' the only task left is the prevention of 'No Deal'.

    • you're witnessing "Natural Selection" the core mechanism behind the theory of evolution which determines if organisms survive long enough to produce offspring
    • Maybe Angelina did see them, however how many people and drivers didn't?  Just takes one to cause life changing for both.  Wouldn't it be more sensible if cyclists realised lights and reflective gear is not just to help them see but to potentially save their lives by making them visible to all.
    • I agree with this, I'm afraid.  I see it every day within the industry - a lot of it is to do with the fact that the people working in it are younger now and don't realise how much they're being subconsciously indoctrinated by certain forces (social media and group-think), so they're now pathologically incapable of objectivity. Also, they don't read books, pick up the phone to experts, or generally know how to research properly.  On a lot of documentaries I've worked on, I've been leant on hard to peddle narratives that are not only heavily biased, but often outright inaccurate, and I've fought back where I can. It's really depressing,  I'd like to think that, at the BBC, I'd be immune from these influences, and allowed to project a 360 view, but it's sadly  not the case. You'd also be surprised at how toothless the BBC can be when presented with something that's irrefutable but could, say, upset Murdoch or the DM...  Hands up, I'm guilty of platforming extreme right-wingers, misogynists, anti-abortionists, racists, anarchists, pro gun lobbyists, rape-apologists... you name it, I'm all for putting them in a programme. Even though I deplore what they stand for, it's important to me to have a counter-view, and they almost always hang themselves.  (Job done.)  It's funny that certain people are up in arms about Rockets posting 'misinformation' in the Traffic threads, but  seem OK with it in broadcast, as long as it aligns with their views. You have to ask yourselves, what is it that you really want? If it's an echo chamber then just watch Fox News or CNN, however you lean. But then what's the point of it all? I fear the ship's sailed, so I don't know why I bother.
    • That’s right, we could see them passing us at the stops and then as we overtook them. There was one moped without lights doing about 30mph.    Stupid is one word, but when it puts pedestrians at risk, it’s a different word. We’ll be raising it and hopefully get some publicity about road safety awareness
