elliescott
My husband and I were in Peckham Rye park yesterday and there were police driving around the pathways and on foot looking for 2 children, 6 and 7 years old, who were missing. Does anyone know if they were found? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15769-missing-children-not-any-more/ Share on other sites
Tylertoes
Yes at home, all safe & well ! Apparently a missunderstanding between parents.... James Barber
Even with the change of title my heart sank on reading this posts title. How incredibly terrifying.Dulwich Park has a missing children post in it and the Police say it has hugely reduced missing children call outs which must mean a lot less stress for kids and parents. I don't remember seeing this is Peckham Rye.I'll ask if one can be installed for Peckham Rye park. Pickle
I think it's the big colourful flagpole/sculpture thing on the grass beside the cafe in Dulwich Park Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15769-missing-children-not-any-more/#findComment-410837 Share on other sites
James Barber
Spot on Pickle. Kidkruger- see attached picture.Talking to local Police it has significantly helped reduced the problem of missing and lost children. Great for the kids and families. I've only known this feeling of dread once but unforgettable - amazing how long 10 minutes can be in slow motion.Helpful for the Police as you can imagine the numbers of Police officers taken from other Policing duties when a child goes missing. Ann
The OP was concerned having seen the police in the park. elliescott
Narnia.. isn't it obvious? What a silly question. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15769-missing-children-not-any-more/#findComment-412686 Share on other sites
Narnia
Given that your oh so pleased thank you very much comment was 3 days after they were reported well, I don't think it was silly at all. Perhaps you would care to explain why you started a not very nice thread if it wasn't just to start something juicy in the gossip section. elliescott
Narnia, how was the thread 'not very nice'? I was concerned for two young children who were reported lost, is that a crime? You are being very judgemental and are obviously after a bitching session. Find it elsewhere please. Belle
We saw and spoke to the police carrying out the search, and I must say were really reassured by the considerable police presence. Glad to know it ended well. Also interesting James that the missing children's post has been so effective in DP. panmum
Can I ask if I can tether several teenagers to said post, will someone think they are lost and take them home with them? Carbonara
Well, the thread has given me the 'heads up' re the lost children's post. So easy for kids to disapear through a line of bushes and then get disorientated in Dulwich park. I have been onvolved in 2 20 min long searches for free-range explorers! Of course if the kids are having such a great time that they don't realise that they are lost, then thier absence at the post will create yet more fretting.Chip'n'pin - the only way forward.
