I ventured down to LL on Saturday just past, to partake in my usually enjoyable mornings worth of shopping, coffee and general pottering about.

I was alarmed to see just how MANY PEOPLE were in LL, in the pubs and shops, where have they all come from????

The sea of green Foxtons balloons and the plethora of Foxton's Mini Coopers added to my unrest.

People were trying so hard to be uber cool and laidback, crippled by their uber cool and laidback outfits, they were finding it hard to catch their breath. It was painful to watch.

Is it me or does LL seem to be disappearing so far up it's own a*se that it's in danger of being renamed 'Toenails Lane'...because that's all that's going to be left of it!?

Rant over.

I bumped into Andrew from the forum and commented on the number of people - but whilst I agree that SOME of those people could do with a reality-check i will take a thriving, busy main drag over a tumbleweed ghost town any day of the week, any time of year any city and any lifetime

This place...

Ahh I was in sainsbury reading the calories on the back of the low fat hummous and wondering if I should not buy it after that docu about the salmonella and dirty factory workers, or sod it and buy it because I am addicted to Huumous? I went for the latter!

Only time you see me in lordship lane is to collect my contact lenses from Paine and Hunters, Powerpram it from one toddler group to another or look messy heading to the gym, but alas I am reclaiming back the street! I am dulwich born and bred and I am going to sit in the Bishop with my uggs and my messy hair, sipping my rose wine and moan to my friends about the outsiders coming to my turf....word!

It is but I was never a slave to fashion, I mean look at all the crocs hunters in Dulwich, STILL wearing their crocs!! and I was on ebay and saw a real proper pair of sn'uggs for a bargain price and i thought "wicked, will keep me warm when i am powerpramming it up Lordship lane" I dont think my destroy wedge boots are ideal for the powerpramming!

Hmmm Maybe I will wear my stilettos to the Bishop instead!

Oh God! Crocs are far worse than Uggs dahlink and they seem to be everywhere on Lordship Lane. How frightfully common. Oh! look away now! Go on look away now. Sadly, I bought a pair last year. I wore them twice. They are vile and hideously ugly and I looked ridiculous in them. :-$

I dont know exactly how many calories there is when I make it myself, I will be worrying if I put in one chickpea too many which means I cannot consume my allowance of calories via my daily wine....it is a complex thing calorie counting.

I like to eat the whole tub with four corn cakes and then consume the rest of my daily allowance with my rose wine...if I really want to push the boat out I have a salsa dip instead and TWO bottle of wine...less calories in the salsa dip you see!

As for the Uggs, i am not bothered, I know I will MAKE it look good!:))

Ohh gosh Take the shame, take the shame!! Least I didnt buy any crocs, and If I did I wouldnt wear them with socks either, instead I brought some boho indian slippers...the little boy I look after seems to like it, he keeps playing with the beadings, that is approval enough me thinks!

Dunno stabilisers, starch, flavourings...the usual that goes in Hummous....except the low fat one doesnt have the flavourings:)) sorry....wine withdrawal.

Ohh I love guacamole, I have the low fat version of that also!

They tend to use double cream or something in the full fat ones as it is very creamy, but then these are not proper ways to make it, it is factory stuff so full fat, low fat not the same as making it yourself but alas...I have no time for that!

    • I would recommend the Dulwich Test and Service centre that used to be in Hindemanns road and then moved to the little Trading Estate off Tyrrel Road. I've used them very happily for nearly 40 years. Paul and Reg Shires.
    • Such a shame as Dells is fantastic - a decent local business providing a great service to residents.
