I do like East Dulwich and since you won't annex Camberwell Grove, I'm thinking of a move. I would like to stay in South London relatively close to Central London. I want good transport and to enjoy my local offerings, without feeling unsafe and disillusioned.

Does ED win the South London crown? Or are other bright spots nearby ahead of ED in terms of best places to live in central, but south London?

P.S. Chav I'm sure I can sign you up to assist in my move?

The first place I really lived in London was Lewisham/Blackheath border (Belmont Hill). Close enough to Lewisham for transport links and the shops, far enough away to be quiet on a Saturday night, easily close enough to walk to Blackheath and watch the kites. How do you feel about Blackheath? This was a few years ago mind, but I always felt totally safe.

That said, I much prefer ED (though a fairly recent arrival).

I think West Elephant & Castle or 'North Kennington' is lovley. The area around the Imperial War Museum. Terribly well connected and the regeneration will help ensure the most vunerable are taken care of while giving a reality check to those abusing the system.

A bit south in Kennington is lovely. It seems to trump ED. I visited yesterday because that's where all estate agents are and that bit certainly gives LL a run for its money.

Yes Kennington prices are much higher than ED, though some comparable to Camberwell Grove (with a bit of downsizing). Borough lacks the lovely housing stock I crave and 'village' feel. No streets of well looked after, period houses with lots of green nestled just in the middle of urban living. Admitedly ED is suburban regardless of what Ken says. So is Clapham. Or maybe Clapham is its own urban area removed from the true urban London.

We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know

    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
