Is it legal to park up your campervan on any street and live from it?

Recommended Posts

Someone has recently parked up their rather large Merc camper-van

and apparently decided to make an end of Rodwell Road their new home.

(I believe they were previously parked up on Jennings Road?)

Of course i'm not overly happy about this for several reasons like engine running

most evenings outside the house (fumes & noise) I'm also wandering where they deposit

their waste (both sorts!)They're also taking up quite a bit of road space in that

they also have a car. bla bla grumpy old man! but hey.

So, I'm just curious as to the legalities of this? that's all really.

Kind on nervous that this may turn into some long term settling!

technically, yes.

but have a word with them & raise your concerns- Im sure they would be amenable & wouldnt want to draw attention to their situation for obvious reasons.

getting the filth involved is probabaly a bit OTT IMH( liberal)O position - Im sure its not a permanent situation for them

What 'bout now said.

P.S. I can't help it but this reminds me of Alan Bennett's 'The Lady in the Van'. Hope it all gets sorted out soon for everyone concerned.

Seems to just be one person ranting. I can understand people not being too chuffed, but the argument of "we paid lots of money to live here" is not going to win you many friends.

Very kind, Senor Chevalier, you're a gentleman. I'm just observing the madness the other thread has taken on & the abuse I'm getting. Not cropping up again there, or else they'll be at me! Have a lovely afternoon everyone. Love & peace to you all X
You are getting abuse because your argument is based on assumptions you have made about the occupants of the van and then you are indignant to anyone that has a different view. Take the advice of those that have suggested it and go and have a chat with the van people. You might be pleasantly suprised by what you find out, sympathetic even.

    • I can't access the article - what's the gist?  I took the markets getting jittery when she was crying at PMQs to be a sign that they trusted her. But maybe it was because they were simply worried about any form of instability.  The NIC hikes have stymied the economy, which we could all see a mile off. Will a wealth tax improve things? Does anyone here think the trickle down has any impact and that chasing out the super rich will help things? Or are we just seeing off the biggest contributors to the economy? And has the Kwasi approach ever worked anywhere else?  Economics is not my strong point at all, I'd love to know others' opinions, but it seems to be she has few options, especially as the party is so divided.
    • does either of them have a surgery? probably not over summer, but I thought they had to give the opportunity for their constituents to meet them.
    • MaryT, I’ve contacted the Dulwich Hill councillors several times in recent years, always copying them both in. I have never had an acknowledgment from Jon Hartley (not even an automated response or out-of-office) nor had any response or engagement from him regarding the issue raised.   On each occasion, only Maggie Browning responded (she uses an out-of-office if she is away). The last time, I received no response from either for 3 months, until Maggie Browning emailed me to apologise for not responding and asking if the problem had been resolved.
    • The  Kwasi effect is being considered.
