That commercialism gives me feelings of dread....a bit like being on a treadmill...one big 'event' after another, that are supposed to define our lives - at a certain standard and at a certain cost.

Can we just not talk about Christmas yet please?

I like it - but just not yet.

Last Friday in DKH Sainsbury's, they had already cleared top shelves of usual products (relegated to lowest shelve) in the cake isle and replaced with Christmas goods ALREADY. It's only September, commercialisation gone stark raving mad. Does anyone buy Christmas products this early????????

I'll swap them for the satsumas I've still got in the freezer from last Christmas (peeled, obv) :))

Whilst we were "up t'north" during the summer, mrs. adonirum went into a store (a branch of a chain) in a small market town over in Lincolnshire and came out and told me that not only were the shelves being stacked with Xmas crap, but also that one young lad was putting up Xmas decorations (and seemed rather embarrassed at having to do so).....the date...........Wednesday 23rd August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe you could chuck them in the gin, Sue?

I'm saving my panfortes for the colder weather. They somehow don't taste right when it's still warm.

My damson gin is tasting pretty yummy as it is, and it's only been started a few weeks (obviously I have to lick the spoon after I've stirred it :) )

I think damson and satsuma gin might be a step too far :))

If you are still there come December/January you won't be so smug!

Keep finding huge, meaty spiders indoors. One of the downsides of living alone is knowing you have to deal with this yourself, particularly having to catch it and take it outside rather than hoovering it up or whacking it with a boot. Self-judgement going on on several levels.

    • Happy to recommend Leon. He supplied and fitted a new bathroom extractor for me. Very quick to quote, fair price, scheduled the work quickly, good communications regarding arrival time on the day, did the job efficiently, and was pleasant to deal with throughout.
    • It's been suggested that he may be on drugs because some like ecstasy makes one thirsty. Was that why he stole the bottle of water? But what is strange is that he went in via the front door and reached in towards the rear. He then tilted the rear seat backrests forward so that he could reach right into the back. He did this rather than open a rear or the rear hatch. Go figure! It's my wife's car and she says she always, I RPT,  always locks it. Incidentally, our neighbour no longer locks his car because he has had a side window smashed twice now because of thieves breaking in.
