FA Cup Semi-Final (played on 16/4/11): Manchester City v Manchester United

No Hernandez? But he's our Gary Lineker x 10! :( This is such a crucial game too!!! Surely it would make more sense to dispense with him against Newcastle on Tuesday? I hope Sir Alex knows what he is doing.

I want Hernandez! and at least one of the da Silva brothers, and Berbatov, and Nani...!!!

*logs off to dust off kit*

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...

Back from Wembley drowning our sorrows with chocolate brazils and strawberry cider.

I have one question for Sir Alex: what was your logic behind keeping back Hernandez? I just don't get it!

Even after it was evident that not including Hernandez was a mistake, he still delayed bringing him on until the 2nd half. Why? Can someone come up with a reason? I'm sure that had Hernandez been there from the outset, we would have scored at least twice in the first half. Damn...

Nani and Parke - you were a waste of space today. As for Scholes - you are a disgrace...

I hate to admit it, but City were the better side today.

Ah well...still a brilliant day though. I won't forget this day for a long time (thanks Jenayr for getting the tickets).

WEM-BER-LEY,

WEM-BER-LEY,

We didn't win the match,

But we had a jolly day.

WEM-BER-LEY,

WEM-BER-LEY.....

Roll on Tuesday against Newcastle.

But I didn't lose on United because Paddypower had a deal that if the game saw a red card, all losing bets would be refunded....ha ha...cheers Paul Scholes, I lost nothing and Paddypower lost a fortune lol. I really do find the best gambling deals in town.

You asked about Hernandez. He's not a player that is so effective as a lone striker. He needs an anchorman to run off from and with Rooney suspended I suspect Ferguson's thinking was that Berbatov would do better as a lone striker if he got isolated. Once Scholes was sent off there was no hope of Hernandez being effective. Both teams were playing a similar game/ formation but after half time City were the team who upped the tempo and basically went out to win the game.

Worth mentioning though that were it not for Joe Hart (who imo was the real man of the match) United would have been at least 1-0 up at half time.

Not a great fan of Rooney but he was missed yesterday by United. I can't see Scholes playing on next season though I hope he gets a chance to redeem himself before the end of the season, after that tackle. I'd have thought that, though bad, as it was quite high on the thigh it was less dangerous than the one on Nani at Liverpool for example.

> Haha Adrian Chiles for suggesting United's fans

> will be home in time after final whistle to catch

> post match interviews.

Ha ha indeed...we really couldn't get out of there fast enough TBH. The taunting/chanting from City fans got a bit much after a while. It was relentless...it just went on and on and on. Still, I can't blame them - I would have done the same had the shoe been on the other foot.

I forgot to mention Berbatov above: another waste of space yesterday. All in all, United may as well not have bothered turning up: the effect wouldn't have been a lot different. City deserved to win: no question.

As for THAT shocking tackle...it was full of malice: no remorse from Scholes whatsoever. Red card fully deserved. And agreed, probably the worst this season.

Grumpy United Fan.

    • @Sue said: nobody is blaming the child, they are blaming the person who should have been watching him g) do you really think it was acceptable for that person to find the situation funny? This is the point. Adults are meant to teach their children by example. It sounds as though the adult guardian/ father in this case did not react appropriately. Had a truly sincere apology been given,  I suspect the OP would not have posted on here. It is possible the OP snapped in the heat of the moment, but they were possibly startled because they were hit from behind? If we are startled it can be instinctive to initially react with anger. I also agree that it would be highly irresponsible to let any very young child ride or walk or do anything on a busy public street without supervision- most of all to protect the child. If in this case the child was out of the adult's line of sight that is perhaps another indication that the father needs a refresh in appropriate behaviour around a child, as well as his manners.
    • Malumbu,  if none of us were there, does that mean that nobody should post anything on here unless they have witnesses from the EDF? Why would someone post something like this if it  wasn't true? This is not about whether children should or should not be cycling on the pavement. There are specific issues. a) the child was out of sight of the person supposed to be caring for him b) he appears to have been  either not looking where he was going or was out of control of the bike c) if he did see that he was about to hit someone  he apparently did not give them any kind of warning  d)  a person was unexpectedly hit from behind whilst just walking along, which in my view makes him a victim e) does the title of the thread really matter as the issue was described in the first post?  f) nobody is blaming the child, they are blaming the person who should have been watching him g) do you really think it was acceptable for that person to find the situation funny? The OP was not complaining about the 4 year old. They were complaining about an adult's lack of supervision of a 4 year old who was not capable of riding a bike and who hit someone from behind with no warning. Also, apart from reading the OP more carefully, perhaps also choose your words more carefully. Jobless? Lunatic? Charming.
    • I have to say, I too am upset about the passing of DulwichFox. He was a real local character, who unlike me, managed to stick with ED despite all of the nauseous yuppification of the last three decades. R.I.P to foxy    Louisa.
