Alan Medic
WTF is that all about? I read a thread about a local school in the ED section and the White Middle Class is referred to on numerous occasions. Who are these people? Is it something that's engraved on your arse when you are born? Is it similar to the Indian caste system? Does Middle mean 'average'. Not great but not bad either.Do I need to know which one I belong to? How many are there? Is it to do with how you think or how wealthy you are? If so, what do you need to think to be in any particular class and how much does it cost? I've lived here for a good deal of my life but I have never classified myself as any particular class. Is that something others would do for me?I enjoy living here but this 'system' makes me wonder how a nation of sane people feel the need to have it. Much the same as my thoughts on the royal family. Would grown ups not grow out of this sort of stuff? Which bit is real please? Brendan
My wife says that she is proud of her working class heritage. I say that the class system is a now defunct way of classifying people in an industrial economy that no longer exists and that its only relevance today is in a historical context. My wife says that?s exactly the sort of middle class shit she?d expect from me. Huguenot
'Marxist Communism is a classless society'I think there's certainly a belief that this would be the end result, but it seems to me that most of the philosophy is about the act of revolution itself, and the subsequent impoverishment and destruction of the bourgeoisie.Hence I don't feel it's fair to present it as an 'equal' society.
