The Nunhead Forum must be very quiet, KH.

Anyway, musical genius for me would be George Clinton, Prince, Stanley Clarke, Roy Ayres, George Duke, Idris Muhammad, Norman Whitfield who also produced the Undisputed Truth, Patrice Rushden, Larry Heard, Lamont Dozier, Donald Byrd, Herbie Hancock, etc.

I decided to take the name of The Undisputed Truth soul group as it sounded so great. I'm stunned how many people on this forum got the wrong idea about my name.

Anyway, as youngster I stopped listening to Radio 1 since their music was naff and my interest in quality music just grew and grew. I was heavily into club, jazz funk soul music during the early 80s and bought a number of records on imports. In some cases I could recognise producers or musicians signature notes. I tend to view m&S and the Guardian in the same way as I did with Radio 1. With the Guardian newspaper I know I won't get quality information that I want and with M&S they can't offer me the quality of food I wish to eat. I feel privileged that I can make my own choices without relying on marketing or journalists gibberish. I tend to feel sorry for those who live their life according to the Guardian or what's on tv.

Congratulations UDT - you managed to get the Guardian on to this thread too! Either you are a drone for a very subtle (not to say perverse) viral ad in favour of the Guardian or someone from the paper once borrowed a fiver and never returned it... either way you seem to have a big bug up your arse about it.

Nothing bizarre about the B52s quids - already mentioned Fred Schneider and Ricky Wilson on this thread - and I remember a lot of Burning Spear (dub versions) and local reggae bands that never made it big but all seemed to play the impromptu r.a.r./anti nazi league promoted concerts in the various parks back then.

I won't accept the congratulations as you've seemed to missed the main gist of my post and that belonging to Quids. As a soul boy I know exactly what Quids was saying and I know the period from 79-82 was a great time for Soul, Jazz & Funk music. Also, at the time reggae was just as popular. I'm against commercial tosh like the Guardian, M&S, Starbucks Coffee, and pop music.

    • Hello,  I am a 52-year old mother and an integrative counsellor who lives and works in West Dulwich, SE21. In mid January I am starting a new training in Parent Infant Psychotherapy (helping parents to bond with their babies), and a key component of the course is a 24-month infant observation.  I’m looking for someone who will be giving birth ideally in January or February and who would allow me to observe their baby for one hour a week until the baby’s second birthday. The baby can be awake or asleep, playing, feeding, eating or interacting with carer/s and family members - whatever they normally do at that time.  The purpose of the observation is to enable me to gain a thorough knowledge of very early infant development and to develop the capacity to maintain an observationally minded and non-judgemental attitude in my work as an infant-parent psychotherapist.  I will provide enhanced DBS clearance and I’m happy to answer any questions.  Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07949716043. I would be extremely grateful for any leads. Many thanks,  Millie  Millie Burton, MBACP Integrative Counsellor [email protected] millieburton.com
    • I keep my promises...had the Sweet & Sour Chicken.  It was great - the best sweet and sour dish I've ever had. The chicken itself was good and the sauce seemed home made with real vegetables and pineapple - it is NOT the red sugar sauce goo you get elsewhere.  The Korean fried chicken was very good but the sweet chili sauce was much more chili than sweet - just far too spicy for me. There is a honey something sauce that I will get next time. Egg fried veggie rice was good as a side.  We also ordered the chicken katsu curry which was polished off so quickly I didn't get to taste it. It looked very good tho. SD is not like Magic Wok used to be - cheap and filling but junk food. (Don't get me wrong - I went often to Magic Wok). SD's food is much higher quality, real ingredients, chunky portions, freshly prepared. I'll be back, for sure.
