PSJ
They seem to absolutely love drumming at Alleyn's school with little care or consideration for local residents as they send their students marching round and round the field banging their big drums as loud as they can. Grrrr.EDIT:Apologies - as others suggested (below), I didn't connect the context and wouldn't have posted about it for this solemn occasion. Mis-timed complaint about something that happens throughout the year. Dieter
Others gave their lives so that you had the freedom of speech. Rememberance Sunday is one day in the year when we show our respect to those that served and remember all those who died in war. This morning over 300 cadets and officers from Dulwich College and Alleyn's schools, witnessed by their families and the residents of Dulwich, paraded and marched. The young men and women of those schools have shown dignity, integrity and respect this morning. It is poignant that this happens to also be the first Rememberance parade since Dulwich College Army section re badged to the Welsh Guards in recognition of Lt Mark Evison from the Welsh Guards, a former pupil of Dulwich College, who sadly was killed in 2009 from action in Afghanistan.I hope that people will think before they post messages on the forum that may offend others. jimlad48
Dieter - well said. As former military officer, I applaud the move by DC to rebadge. Mrs Eversons diary is a moving publication on loss and grief too. singalto
I have attended that ceremony in the past and those taking part are a credit to their schools. Well said, Dieter. uncleglen
This is on a par with those people who move to small villages with church bells and then moan- if you don't like it - MOVE Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/173627-alleyns-school-drumming/#findComment-1194605 Share on other sites
Peckhampam
I think a lot of the above are being a tad self righteous and kicking a man while s/he is down. The OP clearly didn't realise the drumming was for remembrance Sunday.....give them a break. If s/he had objected to Remembrance Day specifically then the lectures above would be deserved, as it is edhistory's correction would have sufficed. Earl Aelfheah
Come of folks. Be kind. OP obviously didn't know that it was a remembrance thing. BrandNewGuy
Indeed, and there's no need to bring up the whole 'offended' thing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/173627-alleyns-school-drumming/#findComment-1194654 Share on other sites

But following your logic, shouldn't Peckhampam's point also have sufficed?... Fair point - guess I was planning to say something myself, saw PP's comment so, already in commenting mode, agreed. Though to be fair (to myself) nothing that wrong with agreeing with someone; what was wrong about the succession of replies to the OP was that we went from "Don't be silly it's Remembrance Day" to accusations of disrespect and offensiveness. kibris
PSJ i think you should ask for this to be removed as you didnt think before writing. By the way it might be good to write the day down for next year as the drums will be here for ever and that way you wont make the mistake again Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/173627-alleyns-school-drumming/#findComment-1195474 Share on other sites
