We've bought just off Maxted at the end of 2006, and its been great - and this is from a North Londoner

Our street is small, people of all nationalities say hello - we've been to people's houses and invited neighbours over - something that doesn't happen in London at all.

A good indicator of the area was that the previous owners wanted to ensure that WE were going to be good neighbours - as much as getting a good price for their house.

As other posters have said we love being minutes from all L.L offers as well as the station and cinema on the Rye - its the best of both worlds, and we paid less for having a SE15 postcode.

By the way - luddite, loved the stream of consciousness...

    • It’s a flat fee levy payable by guests staying in hotel and hostel rooms, so added to the bill.  This already happens in Manchester and Liverpool ( I think in Liverpool it’s a percentage, so the more expensive rooms pay more). I read somewhere that Edinburgh is doing this next year? Charges of this kind are becoming common around the world. I think it absolutely makes sense for Southwark and other boroughs are bound to follow.
