It's my son's 4th Birthday Party on the 24th July; we booked the Wildlife Garden before we went on holiday and sent the invites out. When we returned from our holiday I called to arrange dropping off the payment and it turns out that it shouldn't have been booked in the first place thanks to an all day ceremony - or similar!

I have left a message for the Darrell Rd Centre and the 1 o'clock club but need to sort something ASAP.

If anyone has any ideas ( for places that allow us to bring our own food), that would be really helpful.

Many thanks in advance.

not in ED but the Mulberry Centre (the new One o'Clock building in Myatt's Fields Park) in Camberwell is a great venue for children's parties. It gets pretty booked up but you can contact Kasia, the park manager, at [email protected] to see if they still have a slot on that day. There is also a website http://www.myattsfieldspark.info - the hire form for the Mulberry Centre can be downloaded from there.

Surrey Docks farm has a function room (you bring your own food, suitable for up to 30 children), before/after the party the children can feed/visit the animals and also usually on Sundays you can book donkey rides (they have helmets etc)

After years of 'nagging' by myself and our daughters, we may have cured hubby of spending £4 plus on individual cards for our immediate family  ( when you have 12 immediate family it costs a bomb) Also as the girls state, they get put in the recycling bad at beginning of January regardless of cost.
    • There was a LETS scheme in ED and it ran for a couple of years or so. Trying to remember when it was pre 2000?  A couple of friends joined it, one did baby sitting for exchange for ironing, the other did small painting jobs or simple gardening. There was a set criteria regarding credits,
