Snow! How are the buses and trains?

Looks like heavy snow on our road... How are the buses and trains? Need to get to Charing Cross area by 10.

Trains delayed and cancelled at Peckham Rye to London Bridge...8:23 still not turned up.

Roads aren?t great, it was quicker to walk to the station this morning than jump on a bus.

185 bus currently diverted down Barry Road.

Buses running but slow. The Walworth Road has not been gritted, which I would have thought was a priority in this area.

Ten minutes ago Lordship Lane was gridlocked, with buses sitting there parked and driverless. Looks like there was no gritting which is astonishing given this was the most predicted snow/freeze in years.

Don?t believe the dot matrix outside East Dulwich. Only buses that have stopped have been the P13. I waited 30 mins and no buses to Denmark Hill.

It'll be a Conways contract - they are using the Emperor's New Grit - you simply show your lack of culture and intellectual appreciation by not being able to see it.

I suspect most of the bus routes are actually Southwark rather than the Highways Agency (that might be the South Circular) - anywhere which is rated at 30mph is Highways, I'd guess, the other is Southwark. And yes, in the case of one of the most heralded 'cold snaps' of all time to miss out on gritting must veer into a criminal lack of responsibility. Although of course the north of the borough may have been fully gritted.

This is just crazy and ridiculous. It?s winter, snow happens. Why the hell were main artery roads not gritted? Anyone from Southwark around to help and answer questions?

Also, it?s not much snow, why aren?t the drivers able to clear what?s already fallen?

When I asked a P13 driver, he said that Dog Kennel Hill was too dangerous to drive up for buses until gritted.

I have just watched a 185 trying to turn left from Caldwell road onto LL. How it got into Caldwell rd I can?t imagine. Lots of buses on diversion. If only we had been told that snow was coming. Oh! Wait!

Dog Kennel Hill not gritted and cars having a problem getting up / down. Didn't see any buses, so they are probably being turned at Goose Green. Take care!

I have just had a very angry exchange with someone on the Southwark Council switchboard. My questions were not answered because I was, and I quote ?talking to the wrong department?. I kid you not.

You have to press a thousand buttons before you get a chance to speak to a real person, and then they have no idea who you should speak to about something as important as grittting during a spell of cold weather. Unreal. Meanwhile, council tax goes up for another year and we are expected to just accept it

I am furious, and I?m not even leaving the house today.
