Hi

Thinking about secondary schools down the line, and just wondering if anyone can tell me what are the local catholic schools or grammar schools commutable for children (travelling by themselves) from East Dulwich / Forest Hill ?

And how far the catchment areas of North Dulwich charter and the new east dulwich charter currently extend?

Hi

All depends if you have a son or daughter.

Best one for Girls would be Coloma in Croydon but to be eligible you have to be baptised within 3 months (could be wrong).

If you have a boy the 2 best schools are the Oratory and Cardinal Vaughan. Again very strict criteria to get in but worth it. CVMS- this year had 124 places but I gather there is a waiting list of 600! CVMC is The Sunday Times School of the Year (no surprise if you visit you will see why).

St Olave's and Newstead Wood in Orpington are the two Bromley grammar schools, and are both a fairly easy journey. The PTA organise a coach service from Crystal Palace with several pick up points on the way, but it's a straightforward train journey from West Dulwich, Sydenham Hill, or Penge East.

Though there may not be one in August, as many people will be away  Also, depending what you are into, there is a Singaround upstairs at The Castle in Crystal Palace Road on the second Sunday of the month. Listeners are welcome too! It's all ages and any genre of song (though it depends who comes on any particular evening). More info from https://www.thegooseisout.com/faq or PM me.
