manor house in e. dulwich? (wedding venues)

Hi everybody,

I heard from a friend long time ago that there is a really nice manor house in East Dulwich. The place is quite grand looking with Chandeliers inside.

I was thinking of hiring the venue for my wedding reception,

any idea whare this place is??

Is is Beauberry House on Gallery Road near Dulwich Village?

That would be the place. Used to be Belair.

http://www.beauberryhouse.co.uk/index.php it's quite close to the Village but really it's next to West Dulwich rail station. The house is set in Belair Park which is quite pictureesque. The P13 also runs past.

I got married then when it was still Belair House and it was beautiful. Unfortunately the new owner has installed orange floors, garish furniture and a video screen in the bar so I'm not sure I'd have my wedding there now....

I've read several stinking reviews too. It seems to be a (con)fusion of French and Japanese cuisines.

Granted the restaurant is isn't up to much. Unremarkable food that is overpriced and poorly served. But as a setting for a wedding I'd say it was pretty cool. The grounds and the house itself are beautiful.

They hire out the upstairs of Beauberry separately. It's a bit worn but would look quite good covered in flowers.

Not in East Dulwich I know, but Eltham Palace is pretty grand.

Just up the hill towards Forest Hill, the Horniman Museum do weddings in their conservatory. They have great gardens

That's a very good idea, I always forget the Horniman.

Dulwich College is also a popular wedding venue with alot of heritage.

I got married at Eltham Palace. Its an amazing venue and the staff were fab

Polly D recently got married at Horniman's, she'd be a good person to ask for feedback.

Mrs Keef and I were looking at it, but decided the money they wanted would have taken too much of our budget. If you want the whole day there, you're talking a few grand!

We had our reception on HMS Belfast (not ED I know but it's on the 78 route). It was brilliant.. The venue hire was really reasonable, we bought our own booze and paid corkage and had a buffet which was very tasty indeed. Luckily for us it was a warm night so we spent all evening swanning about on deck.
