Ha, ha. The last bastion is finally reached. I've been to Old Trafford a lot. I am a member and have been for many years. I'm not a Manc but I've supported the club since I was a boy, as my father was a United fan and watched Law and Best and the rest and fell in love with them. Now come on, tell me I can't be a proper fan and I'm a glory hunter and all the rest...

Respect. And I will gladly talk with you. Denis Law !!!!!!!

Ferguson has been a great Manager for United no doubt about that but as a man I don't think you can class him in the same bracket as Sir Matt Busby.. and come to think of it is 2 European Cups at the so-called most powerful Club in the world that great a return in 23 years..

I may be wrong here but didn't that gentleman they called Bob Paisley win 3 European Cups in just 9 years (at a time when likes of Forest, Man City, Wolves, Man United, Arsenal, Palace, Spurs were all beating Liverpool to the million pound barrier signings)..

SP you lost to Leeds United, now get over it.

Brandchester United being out of the FA cup effecting revenue for TV stations, what a shock, the arrogance shown here is amazing. The same could be said for Liverpool, and The Arsenal who also have large fan bases. By the way, did everyone notice how quickly Old Stratford emptied out in the dying 15 to 20 minutes of yesterdays game. Mind you it is a long old trek back to Hampshire and Surrey from Salford.

Is that a City pub? I was in there last year for a charity quiz. I thought I felt a bit nauseous! ;) If it's a serious invite and I wouldn't get glassed then I'd love to come, however, having spoken to the wife I think I might have childcare issues. Again, if you are serious I might be able to arrange something for the next leg.

    • As the days shorten having evening fireworks for e.g. birthday parties becomes more realistic, the idea that fireworks is only about Guy Fawkes day or New Year's Eve is not a rule. I personally do not like fireworks, but other do, and I would see no reason to stop other's pleasure. I am sure the local Puritans will object, and there are issues about disturbing wild life with unexpected noise. But I'm in favour of simple pleasures. And many do like fireworks.

    • Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.
