Lol !

Seems a strange decision but let's face it he hasn't made a decent decision since signing him. It's going to be interesting to see what happens over the summer at Liverpool. Talk of new owners, possibly a new manager with the personnel changes that brings. Do you think a Europa league win will keep him in his job Matt?

Apologies but it's football banter- No offence intended

Matt - Torres seemed only half interested while he was on the pitch but I agree that there was no reason to substitute him for a vastly inferior player. Not a great game and a draw probably the right result. As an outsider it sums Liverpool up as a Jeckyl and Hyde team with too many inconsistent performances - they don't look like a coherent team. One of the photos on BBC shows Gerard celebrating his goal and half the team just trooping off back to the kick off.

Edited because I've changed my mind.

Ngog has fantastic movement but physically he is too weak to lead the line by himself. IMO his development would be greatly enhanced by playing alongside Torres rather than always as his replacement (he ain't going to learn much from the less than nimble footed Kuyt!). It may also benefit Torres having someone else up top to drag the opposition around to create space.

That's just stirring !

Matt - I agree that N'Gog would improve playing alongside somebody but not sure if Torres is the right player for somebody like him to play alongside - I don't see Torres as being that 'sharing'. Also I think that Kuyt is one of the players who appear to give a f*ck about the team but is used to fit round other players than use his abilities.

Watching that West Ham goal again on MOTD I hadn't realised how far he'd run from his own half before delivering that cross for the striker to make it 2-2. Perhaps a goal of the season contender.

Kuyt certainly has the right attitude but as a footballer he has done very well to make a career at the top level.

I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
    • I perceive the problem.simply as spending too much without first shoring up the economy.  If the government had reduced borrowing,  and as much as most hate the idea, reduced government deiartment spending (so called austerity) and not bowed to union pressures for pay rises, then encouraged businesses to grow, extra cash would have entered the coffers and at a later stage when the economy was in a stronger position rises in NI or taxes would have a lesser impact, but instead Reeves turned that on its head by increasing ni which has killed growth, increased prices and shimmied the economy.  What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???
    • That petition is bananas.   If you want a youth centre there pay the landlord the same rent a Londis would and build it yourself or shut the f**k up to be honest. Wasting our MPs time with this trivial nonsense is appalling. If your kids are still out at 1am on a school night you've got bigger problems than vapes and booze and hot sausage rolls.
