Martin O Neill - yes.

Roy Hodgson, I see as a bit of a journeyman manager. Before Fulham it seems noone talked of him despite the long list of lower grade success. He was tested once at a top club and failed. It seems to me his reputation has gone through the roof just on recent form.

And who could not beat Juventus these days.

Their records are quite similar. I think O'Neill's is as good if not better.

I hope Hodgson does well, I just can't see it being a success.

I like the way he speaks, he is very calm and assuring but I think its a gamble, I don't have the same faith others do.

I'm more than happy to be proved wrong. Liverpool needs success.

If Celtic and Liverpool get into the Europa league proper (pending thursday nights results), I'm happy to take a small bet with any Liverpool fan (or hanger on) that Celtic will match their progress in the competition.

Overall it was a poor performance from Liverpool last night although they did show flashes of learning of how to play football again. I guess players need a little time to adjust to a new mentality as they too readily drifted into passive mode.

Obviously a lot depends on the draw, but I think Spurs could do pretty well if they have a fit squad. Gallas will soon be their hero! >:D

The draw is always exciting, you want to be paired with the big teams for some great european nights, but then you want to get through too.

I will be watching Spurs no matter what as a bit bored with Arsenal, Chelsea and MU easing through the group stages each year whilst seemingly in second gear.

With Spurs in pot 3 it is a very different proposition in that they have in theory to outperform a higher seed to get into the top two places.

Great to see Spurs go through, they're guaranteed at least one European giant in their group, and I don't think any of them will want to draw Spurs. But I just don't think they can afford to go gungho against much better opposition who are a lot smarter/cuter than YBB. It will certainly be an interesting ride!..

An excellent well researched article and by and large I agree with it wholeheartedly. Martin O'Neill is basically an over-rated one-trick pony.
