Just watched the England game and you have to say that was pretty good. Life's so much easier when Lampard's injured and we don't try to bodge them in at the same time.

Dawson still looked a bit iffy until he got injured I thought, Jagielka did OK, Hart looks like he's always been there. 'Arry can't be happy though as that looks like a bad injury.

And as a City fan I delighted we had four young ish players on the pitch.

Yup, thought we looked pretty good last night. God performances from Rooney and Gerrard. Hart looks the business between the sticks and a cracking hat-trick from Jermain Defoe. I think we can forget about the likes of Terry, Lampard and Ferdinand. Gutted for Michael Dawson though. Looks like he could be out for quite some time.

It's not often I agree with ITV commentators but I thought he hit it on the head when he pointed out that the players were all playing in essentially their club positions, and what a difference it makes.

Who've Spurs got as their centre half pairing now? Gallas might turn out to be a good signing eh?

Hmmmm.... though as pleased as punch that I am with the performances of quite a few players in the last couple of England games I am bloody pissed off that Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson have now been ruled out for the next eight weeks missing important games in the Champions League and Premiership plus the Carling Cup match against Arsenal. Grrr!

I think John Terry and Frank Lampard could struggle to get back into the starting XI. I think Lampard will only get back in if Gerrard is unfit as he can do the same job. I was very impressed with Adam Johnson who has proved he is a class player who will be able to fill in on either flank. Terry must be sweating on his place with two very good performances from Jagielka.

John Terry's affair affected another squad member and he lost the captaincy but not his place in the team. What did you think should have happened to Rooney?

I did some research and in 60-61 there were 5 B's in the first division. In those days they played 42 games, Spurs won the league scoring only 50 goals in the process and they were top scorers. Sheff W were second and they only scored only 33 goals. Must have been boring then!

    • But a larger number, in a more hotly contested election, didn't. It is an anomaly that Starmer won a landslide in seats with a turnout for Labour which would have shamed Labour leaders in all the 21st and much of the post war 20th century.
    • I was not suggesting anything else!   I'm not sure how you interpret what I said  as "irrelevant"? I was responding to a post saying that Corbyn was "unelectable". My point was that a  large number  of the electorate  voted for him!
    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
    • The Brickhouse closed just before Covid December 2019. Nothing to do with Gails muscling in as they didn't move into till December 2022. Stop trying to fit a false narrative into a story
