I would be more than happy with Owen at Upton Park on a PAYP basis.

WH have a history of getting players near the end of their careers, sometimes it works out and we see some good/entertaining stuff for a while (Bobby Gould, Liam Brady, Teddy Sheringham...) Sometimes not so much (Jimmy Greaves, Ian Wright, Davor ?uker...), whatever - if it doesn't break the bank it's worth a punt.

3 signings for Celtic. All internationals. One more maybe ?

Neil Lennon is hoping to make one more signing for his Champions League squad.

As the transfer window closed at midnight the Celtic website announced the signings of defender Efe Ambrose from FC Ashdod, Getafe striker Miku and goalkeeper Lubos Kamenar.

Interestingly the club statement added: ?And the club are also looking to bring in another striker, which they are hoping to do ahead of Monday's UEFA Champions League deadline.?

Clubs are entitled to sign free agents at anytime during the season with Celtic signing Andre Blackman outwith the transfer window last season.

By narrowing the field down to a striker the name of Michael Owen is the most obvious high profile striker without a club.

Ding Ding, week 3...

West Ham 2 Fulham 2

Swansea 2 Sunderland 0

Tottenham 2 Norwich 0

West Brom 1 Everton 1

Wigan 2 Stoke 1

Man City 3 QPR 1

Liverpool 1 Arsenal 0

Newcastle 3 Villa 0

Southampton 1 Man Utd 3

Last week...4 correct results and 1 perfect score...above average (only 9 games played)

Fans' mockery of Michael Owen?s Q&A session becomes Twitter sensation

Michael Owen?s latest attempt to engage with his Twitter fanbase backfired spectacularly after a Q&A session on the social media website led to a deluge of abuse from fans with their cheeky questions.

On Sunday the former England star invited his followers on Twitter to submit questions to him using the hashtag #AskMOwen.

Owen told followers that he would select the 10 best questions and post video answers to them online.

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid ace, who was released by Manchester United in June, told fans to Tweet their questions ?on anything? and if the session was a success he would even make it a regular feature on his official app.

The session received a huge response but unfortunately for Owen the nature of the questions being posed by fans was not exactly what he had in mind.

Owen has yet to post his video responses, but if you look at the selection of some of the questions below, it's plain to see why:

@MirrorFootball: Do you feel a great affinity with Bradley Wiggins, who has also won a championship while sitting down? #askMOwen

@greglarmouth: #AskMOwen I?m expecting a parcel on Thursday, would you be able to sit in for me while I?m out? I have Racing UK & ATR & my sofa?s leather?

@steveuk30: #askMOwen Is it true you will only sign for a team if they have a heated bench ?

@BigJohnTerry: #askMOwen Did you ever think you?re just like Liverpool? good back in the day but now finding it really hard just to play football

@AlanPardewNUFC: #askMowen Our tea lady needs a holiday, can you cover? There is little to no sitting down involved though, will that be a problem?

@AndreVillyB: #askMOwen Where do you get your tickets from for the match? I see you every week and they?re good seats in the crowd.

@FootyHumour: #AskMOwen Which stadium has the most comfortable bench?

@HeskeyHeskey: #askMOwen I scored more goals than you in the Premiership last season. #LOL

@paddypower: #askMOwen were you gutted you weren?t nominated for a TV Bafta for your performance in the Insure.ie ads?

@RealParkJiSung: #askMOwen Do you know we called you Messi because we didn?t want to get caught 1 on 1 with you? In a conversation?

@BigJohnTerry: #askMOwen have you got a wife?

@Dante_Banks: #askMOwen If you cross breed a cat with a goldfish how long is it before you realise your career ended 6 years ago?

@weldy1980: #askMOwen If u had a choice between recieving a personality or being good at football, which wud u choose?

Harry's record was something like 4th, 5th, 4th; if AVB doesn't improve soon, he won't make Xmas Bonfire night.

Di Matteo is a dead man walking unless he wins the PL or CL.

Mancini reckoned he would have been sacked if City hadn't won the PL.

Nice work if you can get it...

    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
