My lovely godson will be starting school next month and I have been toying with the idea of giving him something (a little present) to mark the occasion. I was after something symbolic, rather than super flash (no ipads, if you see what I mean) and was wondering if this is a 'done' thing and whether anyone had any ideas of what that could be.

My boy is still tiny so school is far away for us, hence I've not got much of a clue where to start.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Maybe a book on the theme - I'm thinking there's a Splat the Cat one (or Tales on Moon Lane in Herne Hill may be able to suggest a good one) - with a little note written inside.

My experience is that in reception, they may not have their own desk etc as we may have had in our day so anything taken into the classroom is at risk of being used by one and all. Maybe worth bearing in mind.

Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
